Gonna handicap the card tomorrow evening and post some spot plays on the turf racing and then put together a late Pick 4 ticket. Gonna tread lightly for the first week or two, just to get a feel for how the track is playing. Further into the meet, we will get more aggressive. We got 94 great racing days ahead of us

T3B:cool:

Mikes Classic....yeah...the same Mike's Classic that has beaten Voodoo, Spooky Mulder, Badge of Silver....and run very gamely with the likes of Speightstown, Clockstopper, Gygistar....etc....and here he is running in a 5,000 claimer N1Y....wow...how the mighty have fallen

GPK 12-07-2006 11:09 PM

He isn't the same horse when Reynolds and Hushion had him NY.

I also see Ward has entered Lifestyle who people were crazy about
after he won his first two races with ease. He's turned out to be nothing
special

not at all...it was more of a running joke between the 3 of us....

Lifestyle has burned a few $$$'s in his day...

I forgot all about that horse, Winnies Tigger Too, wasn't he third behind Deputy Glitters and Bluegrass Cat?

DerbyCat 12-08-2006 08:46 AM

Kev, you have actually got me excited about playing this track tomorrow - I'll be checking out the PP's tonight and playing all day tomorrow (from home, Brisbet is doing 10% bonus on all bets opening day at Tampa - very nice :D )

Are there any track biases or angles (besides Ferrer off :D ) that you believe will be in play the first day/week that may give us an advantage? One of my favorite angles to play at the Bay Meadows winter meet is horses that ship down from Emerald Downs - don't ask me how (other than they look inferior on paper), but these horses will frequently go off at double digit odds and win - takes bettor forever to catch on to that angle early in the meet...

So what exactly is it about Tampa that makes you as giddy as a school girl? :D

That place is like a sandpit. Anyway, kev's just the Tampa Terror. There's reasons why, and I hope I'm speaking correctly here, Kev's favorite tracks are Tampa and Colonial:

BOMBS

Amen to that! I love Tampa too, but it's more because it's easily accessible for me. I like to be able to go to the meets and Tampa is close.

Also holds the track record going 5.5F at Belmont.

It's sad to a horse like Mike's Classic, who had a lot of talent at one
point run in cheap race like this. This horse should be retired and put on
farm to live the rest of his life out.

Early on in the meet the Calder shippers usually outperform the shippers from up north. They usually have recency on their side and the Calder racing surface is somewhat similar to Tampa's. Once they get a race or two under their belts, the Calder dominance does tend to fade.

Closers down the middle of the track in the slop. Tampa is crowned more than most tracks and when it's sloppy, the rail is a bog and the crown is the place to be.

Normally, they are dark on Monday's and that's when they will scrape the rail. So, on Tuesdays, the rail is golden (a la CD on BC day).

Good luck.

FYI, Ivan Jay Perry is lock city on Tampa Opening Day
