Scuds/q School
you following this any at all bro?
Merrick (from UCLA) is playing well, but he is not under that much pressure as he already has earned his tour card for this year via the Nationwide money list. He is just trying to move up the rankings a bit. Just strange seeing some of these names in there....Janzen is playing and he is a 2 time US Open winner. |

Dicky??? what are you doing pulling for an Alabama boy? |
There are a lot of big names fighting for their cards. Lee Janzen is not looking too good. He's not going to make it. I'm sure he will still get into plenty of tournaments though as a result of sponsor's exemptions.
I wonder if he has any other exemptions. There are all kinds of one-time exemptions for accomplished palyers like Janzen. He did win the US Open twice. |

Rich....Janzen has no other full year exemptions. He used his 1 time, Top 50 all time money list exemption this year. He will have to rely on sponsors exemptions only if he doesn't make it through. |

hes a valcano waiting to erupt...no doubt. |
I gotta pull for my fellow Virginian Steve Marino. Competed against him a few times in the VA State Open.

1)Past Winner Status and 2)He is #146 on the $ list, and everybody up to 150 has some status(they get into what? half the tournaments? |

How does that work? He is obviously behind the top 125 guys that kept their cards. He will be behind the Nationwide graduates. He will be behind the 30 guys that get their cards from Q-school. I assume he will be behind the guys that finished between 126th and 145th on the money list. Where does that leave him? That would put over 180 guys in front of him. I don't know how he could get into many tournaments. Even the top 10 guys from Q-school have trouble getting into tournmanets for the first month or two of the year. |

he will get into some of the lesser tourneys....other than that...he will be writing alot of letters to sponsors, hoping for a spot. I hope for his sake that he was an enjoyable pro-am partner through the years. |
It ain't like stakes racing in horseracing(where some stakes are 50k,and others are 500k.) These so called "lesser tournaments" pay nicely. It ain't like they pay LPGA Style. They win one of the lesser tournaments, and they get a 2 year exemption.Seems like the "lesser" tournaments would be the ones these guys need the most. They aren't gunna win the big ones(not usually.)I don't feel sorry for Janzen. He had a chance to win a tournament towards the end of the season, but turned woman(like he has done for the last like 5 years, atleast.)Mental mess(it ain't a talent problem with that one.)
|
BTW,this guy who already got a card, but played this week? This guy has to be doing awfully well, because you just don't do that without your game being damn good. This guy will make some good money this year.Good to see Gow giving himself a cushion.I think most golfers who aren't pros can probably relate to that guy(cuz he can go from great to awful so quickly..a real survivor type.)Poor guy should have won the B.C. Open atleast once.Isn't that the only tournament that the swing coach ever won(Harmon.)

A tear for Jeff Overton :(
Well he can kick Tee McCabe's butt up and down the Nationwide Tour. |

This is really something.
Top 30 plus ties get cards. Right now, there are 29 guys at 9 under or better. Then there is a 11 man tie for 30th!!! Right now, 9 of those guys are sweating badly and vomiting. Two of the 11 are still on the course on the last hole. And if one of them finishes at 9 under, the other ten go home emptyhanded. I know golfers don't root against other golfers as a rule, but if I was one of the 9 guys who was done, I'd get the gang together and stand at the 18th green and yell "NOONAN!! MISS IT!! NOONAN!!! AWWWWW!!" |
Kev, If Hendrix or Bradley birdies this last hole, do they have to enter witness protection?
|
Put Byrum on the suicide watch list Scuds. Started the day in good shape and went 3 over today to miss by one stroke. That has to hurt like hell.
Bradley and Hendrix made pars on the last hole with shaking hands to both finish 3 over on the day but got their cards by the skin of their teeth. 40 guys end up with tour cards due to the monster tie at 30th. Jonathan Kaye was one of those guys and has to be pretty damn happy because he opened up with a round of 77. |
