ROI Results 6/21 @ Thistledown

It was a tough scoring day at Thistledown with a mix of favorites and bombs throughout the card. Only
two tickets were cashed which led to a single winner. Real Quiet takes the contest with an exacta in race
1 worth $134.20 After the opener it was a waiting game to see if anyone could pass me and when Chunk
of Gold finished 2nd and Clever Again ran out my $35 profit was good for win 6 on the year to tie Cal. That's
my first profitable day since before the Derby and I've just been grinding it out. Indian Hemp still has a big
ROI lead as we continue down the backstretch. Following are the unofficial results pending a review. See
you next week.

"Bombs" is right. The bomb that sunk my ship was 156-1. He was the 5th place finisher in the Buckeye 5. Also finished 5th in the Arkansas Derby, but that was by 18 lengths. For the Ohio Derby he improved by 17 lengths, but that was probably because the Arkansas Derby was a bit faster race. Anyway, it was an interesting, if not a very lucrative day and I was entertained. I think I got a new appreciation for the Ohio Derby so kudos to Joly for selecting Thistledown as the venue.:tro:

I forgot to mention that Cal but it didn't go unnoticed. A 156-1 shot Brereton's Baytown sunk you. In my wildest dreams I couldn't pick him and there was an even longer shot in the same race. In the 11th too the favorite gets scratched early and a 10-1 morning line horse still goes off at 31-1. All and all if was a tough but entertaining afternoon.

The mistake I made was playing it for a dollar. The Ohio Derby is the only venue yet that I have encountered that lets a player play a SH5 in 20 cent increments. If I had included Brereton's Baytown in the 5th slot for a dollar it would have exceeded our limit. Considered a smaller wager at one point, but thought the betting pools might be so small that a smaller wager wouldn't pay much. I think the whole pool was around 9 or 10,000 dollars last time I glanced at it.
