Stonewall... wtf???

A.P. Warrior 20k
British Blue 5k
Doneraile Court 10k
It's No Joke 10k
Lawyer Ron Private
Leroidesanimaux 25k
Marquetry 7.5k
Medaglia d'Oro 40k
Value Plus 12.5k

They're filling up the barn quickly as hell but what happened to quality over quantity?

A.P. Warrior at 20k is a lil steep but he's got a sexy pedigree... he'll probably get a decent book. Still questionable fee though.

British Blue is the real sleeper here. I heard he's a very good looking boy and he traces back to the old Darby Dan fam of Golden Trail. This family can get you a big sire, such as Dynaformer and Brian's Time... then again, they also gave us Monarchos (I still heart him).

Donerail Court... At any other KY farm, he'd be shipped out to a regional market.

It's No Joke... you sure?

Lawyer Ron... wonder what he's going for...

Leroi... Kinda like him. Talented horse with a family who can produce a stallion.

Marquetry... one of the best values at stud. Can get you a very talented runner. Good breed to race type. Good price. Also a good sabino sire for the color breeders.

Medaglia... I just cant see him as a stallion of any note.

Value Plus... Take Unbridled's Song out of the equation and he's a colt that never won a Graded race out of a Rollin On Over mare. Huh??!!

Interesting line up to say the least.

The guy that buys all those horses is nuts

Balletto 12-01-2006 08:04 PM

Im shocked.

The Bid 12-01-2006 08:06 PM

Not shy to spend money, but very crazy

philcski 12-01-2006 08:20 PM

I was there 4 weeks ago for a stallion show, got in trouble with some people because I told the groom that Value Plus was a no-heart bum.

Only one I like out of this group is MDO, but I'm not sure 40k is fair. AP Warrior is not worth 20K, despite his pedigree. British Blue was a good looker... since when was It's No Joke and Lawyer Ron added?

Balletto 12-01-2006 08:26 PM

Its No Joke was added like a day ago... Lawyer Ron was announced a while ago.

I thought Lawyer Ron was going to attempt a 4YO campaign? So much for that.

And for the 2 other fans besides me, Sharp Humor has also been retired.

Balletto 12-01-2006 08:35 PM

He may be running a 4yo campaign... but he's listed in the stallion register, although with a private fee which may bode well for him returning to the races.

"reaggrivated his knee injury."
Truth is he was running the same figures after the Derby injury as before. But, you know, he's done enough...

I didn't think much of him anyways, but I would like to see him run at 4.

That gray rat (V.P.) should go for $2,500.

oracle80 12-01-2006 10:09 PM

I wonder who makes up the prices of the horses this guy stands?
You figure they just shake up a magic eight ball? Or do they do an eight ball and then just start tossing out figures?

The Bid 12-01-2006 10:13 PM

haha, they do an 8 ball

He's goes down as the single horse that ever extended Barbaro all out.. I got close to Sharp Humor at Palm Meadows last winter, and believe me, he was VERY fast and VERY talented. It was unlikely that he was going to come back close to what he was after the injury in the Derby. I thought it was nuts to run him there, but it was a shot for the Edelberg's (the Purdy's partners) at the brass ring... Has a great personality too, and likely will be a good sire.

kentuckyrosesinmay 12-01-2006 11:24 PM

I think that Barbaro was all out that day, but Barbaro was actually slipping on the dirt a little bit while coming down the stretch and that actually cost him a little bit. Barbaro was better suited to that distance IMO too.

Value Plus has a nice pedigree, not that it made him much of a racehorse.
half to Roll Hennessy Roll and Majorbigtimesheet.
his dam was a stakes winner and I read somewhere 5 of her 7 won at first asking.

he should be an ideal win early sire.

I get why breeders would have interest there.
MDO should make an excellent sire of both turf and dirt runners.

the others, well its a lot of speculation and wishful thinking.

like mentioned earlier in this thread, the listed prices(which I am sure are not set in stone) seem very random.

I get Stonewall is trying to jump right into the market and make a splash but they would have been better served to bring in some of the very nice and productive sires that stand in Florida.
