Very Nice Job Steve!

Maybe the horse was already on empty, but what was that by Castellano on the 13 in the last? Guy was like a statue until giving a speck of urging a few yards from the wire. Optics looked bad on that one.

Stop what? I acknowledged the horse was probably empty regardless, but how is that an excuse that the rider didn't even touch the horse until way after you claim the horse was done? He didn't even make an attempt to get a response from the horse, and obviously wasn't concerned something was amiss since he decided to give the horse a whack in deep stretch. So yes, it is a bit bemusing to me because what was the point of taking out the whip late when the horse was done and he hadn't tried once to get a response from the horse before? FWIW I thought the horse was a massive underlay and didn't use him at all, I just don't understand the logic in that or the idea it's "acceptable" to not ride a horse out just because they're not in winning contention. There are other placings that are important for wagers too...but I guess it's also OK that in R8 at KEE Saez stopped riding the 3 over the final 70 yards and got beaten for 3rd on the wire? All those tri and super players who needed the 3 for 3rd shouldn't feel too aggrieved, the horse wasn't going to win anyways!

Midway on the backstretch is what i meant to say. He was backing up approaching the turn. Take your complaint to HISA. They've got these guys having to keep track of crop strikes as opposed to just riding like they learned how.

Missed the point. Didn't even try riding out with his hands to get any sort of response. So, if he was basically easing the horse, why give a crop strike at the end? If he felt the horse had something to give that warranted a crop strike, why not ask for a response earlier going hands and heels? That's all I was saying...it was a strange tactic that unfortunately in this jurisdiction no one will get an answer for. Nothing to do with being under the minimum amount of crop strikes.
