Data base: Explanation Required

Seems that Defense Dept needs to explain Talon's actions.
Unless a good explanation is put forth, many will consider these actions not only overstepping constitutional rights of citizens, but also, indicative of the "police state mentality" that those that abuse power have done previously.

I'll add my opinion, the Veterans for Peace in no way has ever been sympathetic to terrorists, nor have they ever acted in a violent manner.
When a governmental agency gathers data on responsible citizens that are exercising their constitutional right of free speech, as Jefferson said so well in the Declaration of Independence, that government that denies those rights, no longer has the "consent of the governed".
Remaining silent, as so many did in the 1930's in Germany, allows the Gestapo to assume powers of control that once taken, are forever lost.

Nothing new DTS...wrong, but "business as usual". Of course they will explain it as a "clerical error" or underlings "being confused about their mandate" but ain't exactly true! Hoover started a lot of this crap...remember the "leaks" about Dr King supposedly being a womanizer? That crap is still brought up by right-wing fanatics such as Repent to discredit a great man. The Kennedys hated Hoover yet never replaced him...I wonder why? Then there was the reassignment of a black FBI agent the night before King was murdered....! The allegations of the Civil Rights Movement being financially maintained by Communist elements, spying on College student leaders, long long list of Constitutional abuses. Go back a little further and you get to good old Joe McCarthy and his witch hunts...how many lives did he ruin? And his chief counsel...what was his name? Oh yeah, Tricky Dick Nixon! I wish I was surprised that it still goes on...I'm not...in fact, I have personal experiences...as an active participant in the Civil Right's Movement and later a member of SDS...I had a couple "interesting" encounters with the "Guardians of our liberty" (sic)!

Somerfrost,
I've also had my "picture" taken during a peaceful protest during the Viet nam days. Thankfully, nothing came of it.
My guess is that you are completely correct that this is "business as usual".
Seems a bit ironic to me that the very same government that is seeking to grant freedom to the Iraqi people is doing its best to deny those same freedoms to its own citizens.
