my gift to you

broodmare prospect, closely related to Voodoo Dancer running in low level claimers at Mtr...Just Like You...vet her, grab her...

You wouldn't be able to vet her reproductive soundness or any other soundness before a claim.

I suspect she is either crooked as a Haliburton contract, slower than the trainer or already known to be reproductively unsound.

Nice try from the pps tho! A for effort.

She's 67-8-10-11 $110.920

What about Jeweled Victory, 3/4 to Victory Gallup (they share 3 out of 4 grand parents).
Or Shining Forever who won twice as a 2 year old, had stakes written all over, got injured and never fully recovered.

There are lots of interesting mares and fillies who get dropped into claiming ranks for a plethora of reasons, not always pertaining to class.

I follow certain families and when a filly from one of them starts to be dropped in the ranks, I pay close attention to her. Last January, 3 fillies who were consistently dropped in for a tag ranging from 10k-60k all sold for over 200k as maiden mares. There's a definite profit to be made using this angle.

Good pick-up Sumitas.

I pay people for information like this, LOL. I've claimed several mares off the track for pinhook/broodmare plays. More and more people are looking for these types of things so it gets harder and harder.

This is more my hobby. I have less time for it now that I am working again.

Long shot stallion prospects are Sir Alfred, Cool Rain Falling, and one of my favs, Pink Duck (the only Spy Song line raceing sire prospect in the world).

I follow a lot of class families and the money made on them is ridiculous. I've tried getting my father involved in this aspect but he just wont do it. He sticks to the sales... but my GOD...!!!

I've never played the stallion pinhook game. Totally different market.

This is the kind of play I do make. I didn't pick up on this one and don't know the filly. You still want to see pedigree of course but for cheap money they are often worth a shot.

Nice one ran a week ago at CHD, claimed for 15, sold for 40, resold for 75.

The money is there but it is getting harder and harder. I guess in a way there is less money as more people are competing for it. I forget the mare but once we lost a 10 way shake. You always hope that the one you find "slips through the cracks" but often they don't. A few times when we thought it would be a 5 or 10 way shake we were the only ones in or maybe one of two or three.

The beauty is finding ones before they get the targets on their backs. Its not that difficult... just time consuming.
