OK, now that a barrel racer has

been cloned... (AND I know this will start a big debate), who is going to be the first race horse cloned and WHY should it be that particular horse?

This was going through my mind. Do we clone a good racer or a good breeder? hmmm.... Do we make sure it is a horse who is very sound or just go for the fastest racer?

Buffy,
I don't think the Jockey Club registry allows cloning, since they don't allow AI.
Do you have a link to the "barrel racer"?

Sorry I should have posted it before.

I guess you are correct, but do you think in the future the JC would allow it IF in say 50 years it becomes a norm?

Buffy,
Pretty cool article. Thanks for the link.
As far as cloning TB's, I don't think so. Not now, not in 50 years. The JC is plenty strict about things. Can you imagine trying to "cap" a race where you had 12 clones going for a MSW? It would drive the bettors "nuts".

Since this lady did it on the "sly" so to speak, do you think it will happen in racing?

With mine, it's always been a live cover, witnessed and signed.
One copy to the farm standing the stallion, one to the mare.
The foal can not be registered with the JC unless the farm signs that the stallion fees have been paid.
Those papers are admissable in court.
AI can and is used for standardbreds (trotters).
Google Jockey Club...click on Registry...read the rules.
