Horrific Violence and Ethnic Cleansing in Sudan

It is really terrible what is going in Sudan right now. Thousands are being murdered. Here is the link:

If this was happening to white people there would be an outcry and troops there. But it isn't, and that's the difference.

You are right...of course, if there was oil, that might make a difference!

A friend of mine asked me if I knew how many wars were going on around the world right now. I figured that there were around 7 or 8 going on. He said that he read that there are over 100 wars going on right now around the world. Many of these are in small countries that we've never heard of. They are obviously defining war very broadly and they are including any place that there are rebels launching attacks.

I was totally shocked at this number. I can't believe that there are this many wars going on, but my friend assured me that he read it correctly. I guess they are including any country that has separtist rebels that are waging any type of guerilla war even if it's a war that only includes a few attacks a year. Most of these wars don't get any publicity. Once in a while I will hear about separtist rebels in places like Chechnya and some of the other Soviet Republics. The civil war in Sri Lanka get some press once in a while. I believe there are separtist rebels fighting the government in places like the Phillipines. We know about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Israel/Palestinian conflict would be considered a war. There has been fighting in Sudan for years. I think there is still fighting in places like Somalia. I guess if we thought about it hard, we might be able to come up with 10 or 15 wars but I still don't where they come up with over 100. I guess there are separtist rebels in over half the countries in the world. There are 192 countries in the world.

Somerfrost,
I don't know how much oil is involved. I think there's a lot there, undeveloped as of now.

That's true...it happened to Jews! Persecution, even murder of Jews is not something unique to Hitler unfortunately. The world's reaction to Hitler's vulgarity is a sad topic as well...Joe Kennedy was but one...

I don't have to do a google on it. I know what's going on over there, but when will the other countries start doing something about a genocide instead of waiting for the USA to do something. Why does something like this always fall on the shoulders of US??? Why is it always OUR fault because nothing is being done??
