Venue Choice: Saratoga *** Race #2--9 No Race #1: Hurdles.

Well, I guess you are a fan of cutting out selective races even though "hurdle horses" are thoroughbreds

I'm just sayin

Ralph Waldo Emerson said something that might apply to this situation(something about "a foolish consistency"), but whether it applies or not, I think I agree with Miz Ruffian, although I am only guessing as to her reasons. Just sayin' too.:D

The "hurdle" race tomorrow is one not to be missed. It's the Grade 1 New York Turf Writers Cup and features a matchup between Moscato and Optimus Prime. Besides, the jumpers are always a treat to watch.

She's more conservative than I thought.

Whatever floats your boat and to each his own, but it looks way to scary to me.

Jumping over barriers and running what 2 or 3 miles. It just seems to be inviting disaster. After all, they break their legs running on flat ground, but I'll admit that there might be one aspect to it that might be safer than running on a flat racetrack and that is I imagine that the better ones distance the others so in that respect they're not doing the bumping and crashing into each other and cutting each other off that the runners on the flat do.

FYI

JUST TO CLARIFY A POINT

RQ
His reference has nothing to do with THIS forum
or Saturday races!

It is on MY website Forum
for Wednesday Midweek Mayhem contest !
~eliminating R#1 hurdles ~

I eliminate Hurdle races
because I don’t think It creates an equal playing field
For players who are used to handicapping the flat races :zz:

On a regular card I don’t like eliminating races
* even if they are maidens ~ So What If They Are?
Isn’t that more of a challenge to handicap the unknown factor

I just think if you’re going to play a track you play the whole card :{>:
To each our own opinion and this is mine
Love It or leave it

When you Win … you can decide how many races to play :)

*** By the way ***
In my contests = I also Eliminate Quarter Horse races
because we are a THOROUGHBRED Racing Forum
