Anew - 112
Gorella - 108
Lava Man - 108
Cacique - 107
Pommes Frites - 107
Relaxed Gesture - 107
English Channel - 106
Grey Swallow - 106

Buffymommy 06-12-2006 03:31 PM

108 for Gorella? Hee hee! Happy happy joy joy!

That Anew is some horse since being gelded. Might be the best sprinter in the country.

I would say Toby Sheets is doing better than Asmussen by a wide margin right now. In NY the guy in unconscious.

I dunno about that one, bold...

Certainly the sky's the limit, but best sprinter in the country off a win over nobody on a speed favoring track?

Not saying he can't be a force in the sprint division, but I'm not sold just yet...

Well if you classify sprinters as 7f or less and hes right there.

Who is better going 6F-the BC Sprint distance? His times appear to be just as quick as LITF and that is two big times in a row.

Lost in the Fog will squash this horse like a grape if they meet in the Sprint. No easy leads for Anew and closers that can actually run a bit. Fog can outsprint this horse or sit right off his flank and run by him at will.
Every year there are cheap claimers that blossom into crazy good sprinters but they seldom can run the whole year and make it to the race that counts.
Class seems to prevail and horses like Kona Gold, Orientate and Artax rise to the top. The cheap claimers provide nice stories but dont get it done.

That cheap claimer is by Awesome Again and is not the same horse since being gelded. LITF is overrated in my opinion. Didn't show up in the BC Classic last year and likes to beat garbage at at garbage racetrack in California.

Jazil - 102

Songster - 103

This horse is insanely good since having his nuts taken off. Hes a new animal. Track wasnt that speed favoring. I saw several make nice moves off the pace and rather think that the rail wasnt the best place to be. Anew was awesome. I think you are looking at past form and not believing he got that good.

SCUDSBROTHER 06-12-2006 06:29 PM

Skip Away...Anew is actually better from just off the front. He won despite being on the lead. When he lays off the pace,he has got a wicked turn of foot.Anybody can sour, but I think he will win the Breeders Cup Sprint( if he is simply this good four and a half months from now.)

Gander 06-12-2006 06:52 PM

This horse was awesome in the winter when he beat Tiger for the first time. Guess this proves that class means zilch in sprinting.

Yet like Ateam, I am not convinced he did nothing more than take advantage of a very weak field and a speed bias track, I want to see more. I mean he beat Tiger, Spanish Rabbit and Grandmother Camie.

Nice story though. Hope he stays healthy.

I happen to catch Anew's race, and man, He was awesome. What a second gear he showed in the stretch! Flat out ROASTED THEM.

Buffymommy 06-12-2006 09:22 PM

If that track was a speed favoring track, then I am even more impressed with Gorella's run. :)

I am soooo on this horse's bandwagon that it is annoying isn't it?
