Horse racing's 'time is up' barring reform
so says california Gov
Y with a new horse-racing season in Santa Anita comes with a warning for the deadly sport from Gavin Newsom. (Getty) California Gov. Gavin Newsom turned up the heat on horse racing Monday, telling the New York Times that the sport’s “time is up” if it doesn’t make significant reforms in regard to the health of its animals. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/califor...035631370.html |
Wow. That's quite a contorted, conflated mess.. a sad by-product of Drape's handiwork. For instance, it will come as a big surprise to China Horse & SF Bloodstock that "(Chuck) Winner sold Justify’s breeding rights for $60 million, according to The Times."
I'd suggest reading Ray Paulick's revelations regarding Gov. Newsom's 'unusual' interpretation of transparent: https://www.paulickreport.com/news/r...han-his-words/ And if you want to read something else by a journalist that went to multiple sources (rather than a single convenient, ax-grinding one), try Tim Layden's examination of the scopolomine positive: https://sports.nbcsports.com/2019/09...ive-drug-test/ And if you missed Alan Foreman on ATR, listen here: https://stevebyk.com/broadcast/part-...rian-didonato/ |
Assuming Gov. Newsom is a novice to horses and racing I think the best thing to do is educate him. Get him to the track and show him the great effort and hard work that is put in to this sport and how many jobs it creates. Show him the backside and let him talk with the owners, trainers and jockeys. Most of all let the douche see and touch some of these wonderful animals. That should be enough to calm the storm.
