The Grand Slam

fisrt time i played this was saturday, there was no pick 4, for races 6-10. but there was the grand slam.
it produced my Biggest percentage win all year.

i bet $24, 1/2/2/6 horses in each race

one horse in the final leg scratched so it was a $20 bet,
paid around $95.

this is a fantastic bet !

the idea is to pick up to three horses in the first 3 legs you feel will WPS, and pick the winner in the 4th leg.

your ticket "morphs" into more than one ticket if your selections in the first three legs "hit",
so the most tickets you can morph into is 27. (3*3*3)

i think the idea is to pick a couple of good horses in each race to build a Morphed ticket and then go long in the last leg to assure you pick the winner.

i think this bet is great, i can't beleive how easy it is.

I'm not familiar with this wager...I think I understand what you are saying about a wps in the first three legs, but not totally clear.. It does look like a fairly short price for a four race wager. Anyone else play these?? I love pick 3's and 4's, but always interested in a different exotic. I play a rolling pick 3 strategy where I key one horse in each race on three different tickets.

Basically, It's a Pick-4... BUT in this bet, all you need is you horse to SHOW in the first three legs.. You must have the winner in the last leg to cash.

I played a ticket on Saturday, here's how it went:

Gorella, Pomme Frites/Too Much Bling, Songster/Ermine/Cacique

this bet is $4 for a $1 bet.

I had it at $40 for a $10 bet.

Unfortunately, Ermine missed in the Third Leg. The Payout ended up being $49+ per winning ticket(for a $2 bet). I nearly had it 20x!!! That would have been nice.
I love this bet when there's a horse that I really like in the last leg, but don't think I'll get better than 2-1 on. By Playing the Grand Slam, I nearly had Cacique at 24-1 to win instead of the 2-1 he went off at posttime. That being said, I've played the Grand Slam 3-4 times so far, and have not cashed yet!! But it's interest non-the-less.

wow, your ticket morphed into 4, and lost on the third leg, ouch !

I love this bet. I get plenty of action, doesn't cost much, and so far I am 3-4when I bet it. The only problem is the payoffs can be a little low if favorites run in the money in the first three legs.

Secretariat 06-12-2006 10:56 AM

it is more than a pick four because our ticket"multiplies into more than one if you have more than one pick get in for the show. the "pick" tickets do not morph into more than one winning ticket if you have more than one pick in the money.
you buy one ticket in the "picks" you have 1 ticket.
you buy one ticket in the GSlam and it can morph into 27.

you basically have 10 combinations of Morph tickets.

1-2-3

you play a ticket with only 1, 2, or 3 "1"'s
1,2,or 3 "2"'s
1,2, or 3 "3"'s
the combo 123, or sequence thereof.

ie 1/2/1= 2

you get these series of morphs depending upon if you pick 1,2 or 3, in the 3 play spots

1/1/1 no morph only 1 ticket
1,1,2 or any combunation of just 1 "2" gets you 2 possible
1,2,2 = 4 pssible, either 1,2or 4
2,2,2 =2 or 4 or 8
1,1,3 = 3
1,3,3,=1,3,6,9

etc.....

the most tickets you can morph into is 27,

3,3,3, = 3*3*3=27

I hit it once and it only paid $8, so $49 is not the norm for all favorites.

how many tickets did you have, just 1, or did it multiply ?

I usually pick just one horse in the each of the first 3 legs and play multiples in the last leg so if I win it is just one ticket. Something like 1-2-3-1/2/3/4. I usually bet 3-4 horses in the last leg and hope a longshot rolls in. Costs me $6-8. It can payoff nicely if a heavy favorite doesn't finish in the money in one of the first three legs.

Yeah, I went that way figuring I'd have it multiple times (taking 2 in the first leg guaranteed I'd be alive into the next because of the 4-hourse field.)
