Monday at the Big A

Does anyone know why they aren't racing at Aqueduct on the Monday Holiday instead of carding an 8 race card on Wednesday? I can remember Veterans Day being a big day at Suffolk Downs every year growing up. All the Veterans were in attendance wearing something to show they were a vet. My dad served 3 years , 6 months and 1 day in the navy in the pacific theatre during WWII and it was a big day for him.

Is this a shout out to your old man or more nyra bashing? It's hard to tell.

Do you have an answer to the question ? Generally when there is a Monday holiday....they run.

I know Veterans Day was observed on Monday 11/12 but the actual day was Sunday 11/11. I’m wondering if this played any role?

It was a very quiet Veterans Day overall. Only Del Mar ran a holiday card. I believe all else was standard Monday scheduling.

I guess the times they are a changing. Suffolk always had the Veterans Day Handicap and it seemed like everyone bought one of those plastic red boutinaires from a veteran selling them at the door. Met mile used to be a Memorial Day standard too. I guess the guys who put it all on the line for the country are being slowly forgotten by some who are in charge of such things.
