Teuflesberg

Thoughts on this particular Johannesburg colt? I really like the way this one moves... I'm hoping he matures a bit and is a major contender for next year. :)

He bombed his last race at Keeneland.

I wasn't talking about for the Juvy, although perhaps he didn't like the polytrack? :D

I was thinking more in terms of next year... I think he's got a great stride on him and he seems to be a larger colt, so maybe he'll mature a bit by next spring.

He is a VERY nice horse. He will be a serious 3 year old. I tried to buy him unraced for 65 thousand. I was sold from the first time I saw him work, he just floats over the surface. I watched him roll 59 flat one day at CHD in the morning, this was prior to him ever running. Our conversation after Jamie got off the horse was as follows. "What did you get him at, Ryan, 101 flat? I said "no Jamie, I had him at 59" That particular day I knew he was the real deal, besides the great looks his conformation is great, as is his personality. The amazing thing about him is he was so cheap at auction, that was the main reason I couldnt get my guy off the money. Horses like Teuflesburg, at the price they paid at auction dont come along very often. No horse running in the Juvenile has anything on him, I promise you. He may not win, I dont know how far he can run, However, as far as raw talent goes hes got as much or more than anything in the field.

Eight races before a maiden win does not say a lot. He was thrown to the wolves early and the added distance could be just what he needs.

Thanks for the info... I really like him and I think he'll mature nicely for next year. Out of all of the two year olds I've seen on the works, he's got the best natural stride out of them ALL. I hope he does well in the Juvy. :D

Hes a really really nice horse. His PP's dont do him justice. If you could stand in front of him or get in the stall with him you would know youre in the company of a real racehorse. When he doesnt go to the track he gets nervous, stall walks, and just really slums around. He is one of those horses who just loves going to the track, he knows hes a stud.

I know Jamie wanted to just kick him out for the winter and bring him back for a serious 3 year old campaign. He just wants to track every day, never holds any heat anywhere, always comes back better than he goes out. He will be an impact 3 year old.

He's my Juvie pick. He has a stallions pedigree and that family has given us not only his sire Johannesburg, but also Pulpit, Tale of the Cat, and the amazing Round Table.

The Bid 11-03-2006 06:53 PM

Youll be happy with that bet, Im on the phone with Jamie now.

"Couldnt be any better, we are looking for him to run huge"

And none of them Kentucky Derby winners. Most of the female line from Round Table's sister Monarchy has teneded toward miler types rather than classic sorts. RT took after dad (Princequillo) more than Monarchy did, who took more after mom's side.

I make his odds 50-1.... I make his chances to win at a thousand to one. BBB

Based on what?

I was driving home from work, going over some races in my head, and I kid you not the race call that was stuck in my head the entire way was "and TEUFLESBERG is uncorking a huge move on the outside" ... I didnt get to the part where he wins or not, but that surprised the hell of me, and then to see this thread...could be worth $2!

round table...one of the most underrated horses ever. never gets as much attention as the other legends of the track. best turf horse ever in this country. and not too shabby on dirt either!!

Agreed... its why he's my Juvie pick and not my early Derby pick. :D
