feed time

im off to the barn to go feed 9 of em. ah just to hear them go crazy everytime they hear the scooper going through the oats is 1 of the best sounds in the world and then a few minutes later the only sound youll hear down the shedrow is the buckets being knocked against the stall walls as they start going to town:) cyaz

hey man, didn't catch on until now that this was you -- we hung out at hawthorne one time a few years back!

how's the horse doing? what's the horse's name? I want to stable-mail it....i'm real out of the loop on this one.

disappearingdan_akaplaya 11-01-2006 04:54 PM

yeah brian how r ya? lol that was quite awhile back we hung out at the end of a hawthorne meet in the winter. ive had the horse now for almost 2 years and hes currently out of training at a farm here due to coming up sore training@arlington. big surprise huh, but atleast he didnt break down like many others did there this year. his future plans are uncertain as of this point, not sure if i wanna bring him back cuz by the time hes ready to run hell be 7. thats a picture of him with my nephew next to my name on here

Hey Playa!!
Good to see ya!
Feeding time is one of my favorites. For those that have never been around it, all you need to know is the expression "eats like a horse".
If their head is poking out and they have a "you forgot me" look, a flake or two of good timothy will make 'em happy. Grain for sure. A pocket full works wonders when you go out into the pasture and try to catch 'em to bring 'em back to their stalls. Just hold your hand flat, palm up, and you won't get bit.
Carrots are a different deal.
If you give one, seems they get bent out of shape if the one in the next stall didn't get one. Talk about "horse feelings"!
Anyway, seems that you and I love the same things.
I wish I could describe it all with words but it's beyond my ability.
My guess is that ya just have to be there.
btw..I wish you were closer to NY...man alive! You'd love what these fillies look like.
Also, are you close to Hawthorne? If you are, you might have seen one named Best of Buddies that won the H derby. He's by Best of Luck (High Cliff), and my mare is in foal to him. I can't wait til late Feb.

he's still walking -- which is, like you said, better than some can say after arlington this summer.

that's awesome. i've always wished i could get the money together to get even a cheap racehorse for the sake of being able to watch MY horse run -- so i'm glad you got the chance to do that. hopefully someday.

nice to be back in touch now that i finally joined up here -- look forward to hearing more about what's goin on with you.

likewise wayne, hope BDR is doing well for ya! yeah its obvious you and i both share alotta the same sentiments when it comes to the animals themselves! most in the barn do like carrots and mints except for a couple who just play with them......lol theyll come around. only my horse when he was there and one that just returned from the farm eat apples, well they dont really eat em they devour em theyre literally gone in 2 bites!

i live 15 min from hawthorne and im there every single day. i was there for the hawthorne derby and it was a helluva race. the winning jock of the race eddie martin is now riding in ny(a mistake in my opinion). youre gonna have to show us some pics next year
