Premium Tap

Any thoughts of him hitting the board at a price?

Jockey change looks positive to me. Should improve of last with the horriable trip. All that said winning looks like a tall order against these.

I'm starting to really like him. He had so much horse in the Kentucky Cup, and would have won for fun with a clean trip.
I'm not saying he can beat Bernardini, but I'm definitely using him in my exotics and the last pick 3.

Those are my feelings as well....he seems to have upside and Kimmel has been very patient with him.

i think you could play him under 'dini as

kgar311 10-30-2006 02:50 PM

No shot it hell, Speed favoritng track in the woodward nobody could close. If hes near the front he will be cooked at the top of the lane by legit fractions, not any loafing on the front end in this race.

Was the best in KY cup should have won but just too much talent and class in here.

I took him to win at 50-1 a couple days ago, because I thought he had more than a 2% chance to win it. (I give him a 5% chance, in fact) Since then, his odds have come down at both Pinnacle and VIP. Best I see now is 32-1 at Pinnacle.

These horses, including Bernardini, are not machines. Every horse in the race has a chance to hit the board, or even to win it. I think Premium Tap's chances are better than several others.

Mike Welsch, who writes most of the DRF clocker report, liked Premium Tap's work yesterday:

"Work of the day

"Scat Daddy (five furlongs in 1:01.17 over the Belmont Park training track): Actually, it's a toss-up for Work of the Day between Scat Daddy, who runs in the Juvenile, and BC Classic entrant Premium Tap, who was equally impressive several minutes earlier on the main track. "

...

"Premium Tap (four furlongs in 47.04 on the main track): He was every bit as solid as Scat Daddy in a workout delayed several minutes by a loose horse on the track. With rider Edgar Prado barely moving throughout the half-mile drill, Premium Tap glided effortlessly through fractions of 12.14, 23.29, and 35.27, and continued his crisp pace by galloping out another eighth to complete five furlongs in 59.40 without urging. He has never been better and figures among the more intriguing of the outsiders in the Classic, behind favorites Bernardini, Lava Man, and Invasor. "
