That explains why he labored in deep stretch during his last workout. (Unless if it occured after it)

paisjpq 10-30-2006 11:40 AM

thanks Rand...guess Euro had a point yesterday about him working @ KEE rather than CD.

And I was wrong thinking there were other reasons for the Keeneland works.

More than anything else it would have made the race even more unpredictable with Commentator running. Too bad.

Tracy Farmer's Commentator, a contender for the TVG Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I), was withdrawn from the race Monday, Oct. 30, due to an injury.
Breeders' Cup officials said they were notified the 5-year-old gelding had re-injured his left shin.

The above is from Bloodhorse--the shin problem again. This makes Pomeroy my only w/p play in the Sprint. I can live with that.

That's a shame for Zito and the connections... better to find out now, then after.

makes things a little easier.

Maybe Im crazy, but I thought he figured as much as anyone else after the top 2 favorites (Bord and HH).

He was a tough one. He's obviously very fast, but I had the feeling he's better at 7-8 furlongs rather than 6.

yeah,
same here.
but I was watching the works and stevens was saying that when he rode him he was all speed.
said it did not matter who else was in the race, he was going to outrun them to the front.
found that interesting.

he does hold the track record at 6.5f at Belmont right?
anyway, I think 6f might be short of his best as well.
wish he could stay more sound.
if he does, I bet he wins a Met Mile or Cigar Mile before he is done racing.

Yeah, that's why I wanted him in because I don't think he could matchup with the 6f specialists all things considered, and he would have taken a fair amount of money.

It is not so much fragile, but what running a -5 TG number does to a horse. Can you say Bellamy Road anyone? Same scenario except Zito really didn't rush this one back, per say....

Bellamy Road is a huge, heavy horse...Commentator is a little, nimble guy...he is hardly as hard on himself as BR was....
