Serious question

A public handicapper who says something like this......

Finished 2nd last time and coming off enough speed to upset the favorite of 4f at 48.57.

What does that mean?

blackthroatedwind 07-06-2017 06:59 PM

It's hard to give that a serious answer:-)

RHT2004 07-06-2017 07:31 PM

How about......

Finished 2nd last trip out at Belmont and coming off a rocket workout of 4f at 46.63 to put away the rest early.

blackthroatedwind 07-06-2017 07:52 PM

That's not how I handicap, but to each their own.

I think he is only asking what that stuff means, not it's worth.

Whomever wrote that text seemed drunk.

He should get checked into rehab.

Back in the days when the NYPost had full coverage and there were shorts by handicappers, you'd see some wacky lines which I thought was a know-little editor stepping in to fit the copy to the page size. Not sure if this is the same situation. What is the outlet?

I know who you are talking about. I have spoken to him, not super sharp at all. Does not know much about the game.

I'm guessing Dan Furman

jnunan4759 07-10-2017 10:45 AM

Sounds like it. Haven't read much since Nick left. Read cowboy on some tracks.

ONTHERAIL 07-10-2017 10:50 AM

Yep. Miss Nick Tam's posts for Belmont. Not sure if he has plans to ever get back to it, or use another venue, but Nick is one of the best. Not sure Furman's numbers, but I can only say after following a couple cards early I don't even bother to look anymore.
