Just looked at it now, the mirror image is beyond the finish pole. So you have an illusion that the horse got to the line first. The line is beyond the pole that says finish.

It's clear that the 4 had passed the 3. Even if the 3 actually came back, it was close enough that they need to post the photo.

Tough beat....reminds me of watching a tight finish at Yonkers. The horse that is a head behind the front runner always wins because of the camera angle.

I'm just waiting for our resident expert in photo finishes, Alabama Stakes, to weigh in with his factual take on the first at EVD on 5/13.

Sorry ontheoutside, the 3 hoss bobbed the 4 last jump. The camera angle can fool you since its to the left of the actual wire. When its from the right of the actual wire the rail hoss always looks better. Pretty sure the 4 had him until that last jump when 3 hoss nose got down at just the instant it needed. Tough beat for sure.

Had same issue at oaklawn few years ago..was told the angle was bad by frank m on the phone..never saw a photo although was told one existed and it showed I was a loser. Why photos are kept under lock and key is something I'll never get

I had the same issue at Gulfstream a few years ago with no photo finish posted. I requested the photo by mail and they sent it.

By the naked eye it sure does look like the 4 hangs on but it's evangelines duty to provide the photo.
