Don't forget to wear some green. Orange is not advised unless you are in the market for a knuckle sandwich for lunch instead of corned beef and cabbage.

Back in the day it was a big day at Suffolk downs. A city holiday in Boston under guise of Evacuation Day, no one worked so they gave everyone the day off. Our nuns were sisters of Saint Joseph so we got the 19 th off too, to sit around eating Zeppoles . Anyway at Suffolk they would use green ink to print the programs and in the st Patrick's day handicap, they would put an O' in front of all the jockeys names to make them look Irish, except Gonzalo Prosper, who rode under the name Gonzalo MacProsper. A hoss named wearinothegreen won on st Patrick's day one year to the cheers of the crowd.

A month later we always had the Boston marathon starter handicap going a mile and a half where Jim Hannon, race caller extraordinare, would give his famous " they got a lonnnnnngggggg way to go as they hit the eighth pole the first time.

‘tis a great day for racing whether you be Irish or not and a great day for a 45th wedding anniversary. Nothing planned, at the moment, but maybe I can talk the wife into a visit to Oaklawn Park later on to celebrate. She’s not much on racing, so it will take a bit of blarney and whole lot of the luck o’ the Irish. :D

Props to Little Andy for wearing his green shirt today. Also for mentioning the best Odd Couple episode of all time.
22 years ago when UCLA won the NCAA hoops title, watched the championship game in Memphis (while on spring tour with the dead) with my brother, Andy and a couple of his friends. I said that UCLA was terrible, with no chance. His friend said that he laid it in on the bruins. Andy gave him the wink that he was a cinch to win that bet, if I was on the other side, which he did easily. That cat did pick up the big tab that night. Go Bruins

The Bruins, led by the O'Bannon brothers and Tyus Edney, only had one tough game the whole tournament.
