Irish War Cry or McCraken
of these 2 colts - Irish War Story, or McCraken,
which do you think has a better Derby running style. Irish War Cry The undefeated son of Curlin beat the current Kentucky Derby point-leader, Classic Empire, at a distance of 1 1/16 miles with an gate-to-wire effort. Grahm Motion trainee Irish War Cry, who also trained Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom McCracken the winner of the Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3) in record time, the son of Ghostzapper, has brought his record to four for four and is tied with El Areeb and Gormley with 20 points each toward the Road to the Kentucky Derby. Classic Empire has 32 points , the point leader...while IWC has only 10. Irish war cry winner wire to wire, has more of a derby Calvary running style..front running with speed...were as McCraken laid covered up for most of the Davis stakes..only to close in the stretch. Is the cover and pounce method, the better running style for the field of 20 in Louisville..in 75 days ? |
Having a few wins at cd is obviously a feather in mcrackens cap
|
good point 3 wins i think.
i really liked the front leg action on Irish War Cry check out his movemenrt in the stretch when he is asked..he seems to almost high step from then on perhaps McCracken in Elmont |

McCraken...........love the breeding via Ivory Empress. :tro:

I think that American Anthem's 2nd start was pretty impressive. Especially with how unimpressive his first was.
It certainly was nicer that McCraken's comeback race. |

March 25th...
Irish War Cry worked in company with Chadds Ford Stable's Darley Alcibiades (G1) winner Dancing Rags, who was given the same time for her move. The Union Rags filly is headed to the April 9 Adena Springs Beaumont Stakes (G3) at Keeneland for her season debut, off an eighth in the Nov. 5 14 Hands Winery Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1). Dancing Rags runs Sunday.. This should be some sort of indication as to where IWC is in his current ability, she was his work mate and they both were given the same time in the 3-25 work...i think ? thoughts ? |

i look for a BIG effort from irish war cry in the Wood.
Some from florida say, the track on FOY day was drying out from terrible storms, and was sticky and cuppy. I like IWC..and will find out in Nork whether or not the track was his issue. |
![]() I like this animals look on the track, his shoulders are impressive, he wired the Holy Bull field, I hope he does well It took one lackluster 1 1/16-mile run around the Gulfstream Park track March 4 for the son of Curlin to go from unbeaten upstart who defeated the reigning juvenile champion to a 3-year-old on the outside looking in where his prospects for the first Saturday in May are concerned. |
