TVG

Since switching over from HRTV, I'm surprised I can build a coin collection, have a hose that folds up and have a pan that you can burn cheese in and it won't stick. Every night I learn more. Plus I think they sell those jellyfish mind pills that will help my handicapping. I really don't need that because I have Paul Lo Duca making my tickets. I have a whole cast to make my tickets. It's like Hollywood Squares in the old days.

Would you rather they had no advertising and went out of business?

jnunan4759 08-24-2016 02:04 PM

At this point I probably wouldn't care less. I can get anything I want on the internet.Plus I don't have to suffer listening to them. I cringe every time I hear Kurt Hoover handicapping quarter horses.

Wouldn't be the worst case scenario!

jnunan4759 08-24-2016 03:11 PM

I'm on nyra.com all day. The only time I turned on TVG was to see Winx run and I see some guy selling coins. The other night they split-screened coins and trotters and had the audio from the coins. Plus they put poor Hoover at Los Al doing QH. He's getting very good because he's hanging out with Les, but what a waste of a great talent.

Pants II 08-24-2016 03:27 PM

Thanks to Schrupp with his gratingly lame catchphrases I can no longer listen to "Loser".

And his brand of humor is obviously contagious to his co-workers.

I'd rather they hire Alec Cabacungan to replace Schrupp. He'd do a better job and he has a knack for sports statistics.

jnunan4759 08-24-2016 05:04 PM

It's a giant chuckle-fest geared towards driving uneducated bettors toward high risk, low reward horizontal bets. These are not for the casual bettor.

And they have a Pick 4 someplace else the next race. I watched one night and they rolled off about $1000 in Pick 4 tickets and never hit one. It's an ADW shill.

Paul Lo Duca was traded for Hee-seop Choi. And I'm going to play a pick 4 on his advice ? He spent 10 years in the minor leagues for god sake. He was an All-Star, but they have to pick somebody from every team. By his last year even pitchers were stealing on him. He may hold the record still for most stolen bases vs. a team.

He's ĺike this great baseball player. He got traded for Hee-seop Choi for gad sakes.

Apparently he's not playing any of his tickets because by now he'd be flat broke and standing outside the track with a paper cup.

jnunan4759 08-24-2016 06:03 PM

And Betfair, the owner of TVG is no friend of US racing. Both tracks they owned are Home Depots now. Losing Hollywood Park was horrible. They are booking the Monmouth wagering, but a leading UK jockey said it promotes crookedness.

Betfair is a scourge on our business. Think of how nice Hollywood Park was and then go to the Home Depot.

If you like LoDuca or not as a baseball player or handicapper, you cant fault him for doing what he obviously loves. "They" hired him, he has gotten better by investing in learning more and he certainly bets and is part of sport.

I would rather listen to someone who loves the game bets and is vested then many others. Look I get he isnt the best and TVG is awful 90% of the time, hopefully "they" are watching NYRA SPA Live and are realizing what players want and need. That said Saratoga live and for that matter the entire NYRA circuit has fairly unique advantages that allow it MUCH better programming.
How do you make a MDN 5 at Penn Nat interesting..You dont you show the race timely offer a good platform to wager on it and move on.

TVG did a MUCH better job with Pac Classic coverage IMO "they" have been watching NYRA and learned a bunch.

Pants II 08-25-2016 08:25 AM

I haven't watched every day this summer but from the days I have watched Lo Duca has been their best handicapper.

If I recall he's had a few top choices at prices and touted exactas.

And overall he's positive about the sport and it seems like he is trying.

Schrupp on the otherhand is bitter, negative, and often jaded and it seems like he just picks a longshot to be contrarian in spite of how ridiculous he looks after the fact.

They don't need that. He's been there far too long. At the very least he should be demoted to B team.

What was he like taken in the 95th round of the draft? He was supposed to be a nobody instead became a somebody. Conflating his baseball career to his ability on TVG is like using Ronald Reagan's acting career to criticize his presidency.

Why must we hear 4 time major league all-star every ****ing time this nitwit has his game mentioned ?

I'm surprised they don't have Thick Vic Stauffer on the team too. That would be the dream team of self important ninnies

jms62 08-25-2016 09:36 AM

Everyone gets so worked up... I watch a ballgame until post time of my race and switch over. It is not like I am going to change my opinion based upon theirs. I form my opinion check Byk's opinion, feel better if I see my horse in his list but bet my opinion regardless. No worse feeling then being talked off a winning opinion.

I'll take Reagan the Great Communicator as the on-air talent over all of them.

Imagine:

“A few days ago I told the American people that Plum Pretty was faster than Songbird. My heart and my best intentions still tell me that’s true, but the facts and the evidence tell me it is not."

...plus he could claim that he outran some of the best Thoroughbreds in the world in the 1988 Breeder's Cup Turf while being ridden by Ray Sibille just a couple of days before his Vice President was voted into office as the next President.

Yea I would be cool with that too!

He's cherry-picking stats and attacking the man to suit his agenda.

What he fails to mention is that a young World Series winning Pitcher, who was having another fine season (Brad Penny) was involved in same deal. Plus if we were talking about him as a horrible catcher that, he did have the 19th worst (twice) season of any catcher being run on during his time line.

According to this logic (pure baseball), he must of hated Piazza even more.

Every broadcast Sports or news station always mentions their colleagues accomplishments when they introduce them on a daily basis.

Pants II 08-25-2016 10:05 AM

I'll make a thread once a few more replacements for TVG on-air talent are mentioned.

So far we've got...

Alec Cabacungan
Vic Stauffer
CGI Ronald Reagan
