ouija board points to the classic

...dini better look over his shoulder now...this is a classy animal and could be the upsetter..or at least a tri include

blackthroatedwind 10-23-2006 09:01 AM

And not the BC Turf, which is especially weak this year?

Odd choice. I understand the male horses and added breeding value. This, however, makes no sense.

paisjpq 10-23-2006 09:02 AM

is this in the DRF?
I love this mare but i have to agree with andy...makes little sense.

hoovesupsideyourhead 10-23-2006 09:07 AM

its on the bc web site..dylan thomas is out ..with hurricane run in the other ..

Seattleallstar 10-23-2006 09:11 AM

I love this move, shes won everything else and BC FnM T win wouldnt mean much. Kudos to Sir Michael Stoute and Lord Byron for being game sportsmen.

I suspect the distance of the Turf is considered to be beyond her optimum - most of her major wins since her 3yo year have been at 10f-11f. Although why they would go for the Classic rather than the FM Turf...., By the way, Arravale's win yesterday makes the 3yo turfers like Wait a While and Vacare look very good for that race. This is a talented bunch of 3yo fillies.

Cajungator26 10-23-2006 09:19 AM

Hmmm... not sure about this move, but I'm guessing they're concerned about the turf distance for her. I personally think she's got a better shot at the turf (even with the added distance) than the classic. JMO...

SniperSB23 10-23-2006 09:23 AM

This would be really stupid but I guess it's their third BC so they can do whatever the hell they want with her.

Cunningham Racing 10-23-2006 09:30 AM

All I can say if this is true is WOW.....she's too nice a mae to throw to the dogs like this.....a very good candidate to run last IMO....I've seen her in person and she is very physically unimpressive and strictly has the body and action of a turf horse......I would be disgusted if they broke her down (heaven forbid) with an asinine move like this....If this is true, I'm very disappointed..

The F&M Turf is in shambles now if this is a fact....no Ouija Board, no Alexandrova....It's setting up as a Wait a While waltz in the park and I'm not usually a fan of American turf horses in these races....

Disappointing as a fan...I was really hoping for the Alexandrova, Ouija Board, Wait a While and Gorella showdown in that race in a perfect world...Oh well...what a race it could have been...

This does NOTHING to boost the Classic IMO...it just gives Bernardini another longshot victim..

Slewbopper 10-23-2006 09:34 AM

Am scratching my head concerning putting her in the Classic. Why would they do this in perhaps her last race? I think she would have a real good shot in the Turf and with a victory would earn the right to be called an all-time great mare.

hoovesupsideyourhead 10-23-2006 09:46 AM

she will beat at least half the field...andromidas hero please....ill take any action you want on her being last...

She doesn't have much of a shot, hooves...

And even if she finished middle pack, why would they do that to her when she had a better chance at the F&M turf? Makes no sense to me... ???

hoovesupsideyourhead 10-23-2006 09:56 AM

some of the horses entered vs dini are suspect also..no way id toss her out vs these for a minor award...if she takes to the dirt..no telling..thats all im saying..

Balletto 10-23-2006 09:58 AM

Im a little perplexed myself but I guess they just feel she has nothing to lose at this point. But still...

Of course they're all suspect against Bernardini, but this is a horse with turf action and her chances of doing well are slim to none. IMO, if they were going to try her on dirt, they should have done so already (like Dylan Thomas did.) Trying her on dirt in the BCC isn't fair to her.

hoovesupsideyourhead 10-23-2006 10:02 AM

ill be laughing when she comes flying late for 3rd or 4th to bust out all the supers...

Cajungator26 10-23-2006 10:04 AM

Geesh...

I have no comment, seriously.

Balletto 10-23-2006 10:05 AM

It was announced Dylan was out some time ago and HR iffy at this point.

I don't know..... I read the UK sites daily and have seen nothing about this move. She had her last gallop in the UK over the weekend and even in that coverage, nothing.....

I can understand Sir Michael Stoute just about, a great trainer of fillies. But she's actually trained by Ed Dunlop.

But Lord Byron??? What on earth can have made you think that she's owned by a 19th Century poet?
She's owned by Lord Derby. His ancestor gave us The Derby, and by extension you guys the Kentucky Derby.

I certainly haven't heard anything and would imagine this rumour is a load of nonsense.
