CD blockng video for TVG & 4nj bets
you can bet, bt not view - yeah right :zz:
|
They are marketing geniuses, no doubt. As we all know...the attention span of the average American is strong and non-wavering.
Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, will join Twinspires.com just for the chance to watch AND wager on the Derby. And if they don't then oh well we'll tank the company, give ourselves big bonuses, and ask for a bailout for our short-sightedness and outright greed. |
LOL..Just logged on TVG to play todays card, and found out..Guess who will NOT be playing Churchill today..Stupid asses! Is the live feed for TVG TV blacked out as well? Mind boggling!

NBC SPORTS coverage
here's the dope
http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...-week-coverage seems no one wants to address the TVG blackout, the old , if it doesn't affect me,i don't care. |
I'd like to know if it's CDI blocking TVG from taking wagers or if it's TVG doubling down on stupid after the video was removed.

TVG not authorized to show Churchill's live races
By Matt Hegarty Churchill Downs has not authorized Television Games Network to broadcast the track’s races live on its flagship network or on TVG’s website for this year’s spring meet, an official for TVG said on Wednesday. The signal blackout on TVG’s most widely distributed network and the company’s account-wagering platform began on Saturday, when Churchill began its spring meet, according to John Hindman, the legal counsel for TVG. However, the live television signal is available on TVG2, a network that TVG rebranded after acquiring its competitor, HRTV, early last year. TVG2 is available on far fewer televisions than the flagship station. Customers of TVG are still able to bet on Churchill’s races through TVG’s website, the officials said. Though Churchill officials did not respond to requests for comment by early afternoon, the blackout is likely related to Churchill’s position as a competitor to TVG in the account-wagering market. Churchill’s account-wagering operation, twinspires.com, was showing the track’s races live on Wednesday and taking bets on its races. The weeklong run-up to the Kentucky Derby is the most important promotional period of the year for account-wagering operators, as the companies attempt to exploit national attention on the Derby to entice casual racing fans to their operations. Compared to committed racing fans, casual fans are far less likely to already have a betting account. Churchill was a former partner in HRTV with another racing company, The Stronach Group, but Churchill sold its stake in 2014, the year before TVG acquired the network. With the acquisition, TVG gained the signal rights to all of the tracks owned by The Stronach Group for seven years, as well as the existing contracts held by HRTV. At the time, Churchill had distribution contracts with HRTV, but the company has not commented since the acquisition on the term of those contracts. |
So I take it the relationship with Churchill and Betfair isn't overly friendly. :D
I know it's silly of me to assume that Churchill is using an angle here but if they were competent enough to do so one would believe that they are looking into their own horse racing channel. Whether independent or in partnership with say...NBC Sports who has extra channels on satellite providers and some cable outlets specifically for premier league. They should look into it, if not. And give me an advisors fee or $3.00 elite special club rebate. |

Anyone know of any other way around it..I will not sign up for Twin Spires..Specifically because they are holding people hostage here to open an account with them..Just won't do it! There seems to be streams set for Derby Day, but nothing for today? Any ideas?
Thanks! |

Considering that racing at Churchill is relevant for about two days a year these days, come Sunday, I would think that very few people will care that Churchill is not being shown on TVG or 4nj bets.

Update on TVG and Churchill Downs video..
John Asher, VP Racing Communictions, Churchill Downs: “TVG currently has rights to offer wagering on races at Churchill Downs Racetrack during the Spring Meet and we have made a proposal that would provide the network with streaming rights and enable it to televise most of our track’s Spring Meet races. Exceptions include the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks, and Derby Week stakes races that will be televised by our national broadcast partners (NBC Sports/NBC Sports Network). We feel our proposal is reasonable and would benefit both parties, and it remains on the table.” |

. CD signal for the rest of the meet is a joke and not wanted .what a deal, ice in the winter. So much for industry cooperation to build the game. |
I don't blame Churchill for this. It's their agreement with NBC. If you want to take issue that is where it should be directed.
The "pay wall" for the Kentucky Derby is ridiculous. NBC needs to reconsider it. |
