I'm a big Dave Liften fan. Going to miss him.

Doesn't sound voluntary at all from reading this.

Agree. Also miss Crist blog from saratoga et al, now only an occasional missive.
Wonder about his replacement, Beer ?

This line struck me:

Until today, that was the harshest lesson I had experienced about some things simply being out of your control

I've met Dave a few times over many years and like him. He is right that he comes from a different time when public handicappers sold papers. There was no Equibase, internet and few patrons bought a form (too expensive). They bought the NY Post or Daily News or tip sheets at the track. The win % was a selling point and ROI was rarely, if ever, mentioned.

Good Luck to Dave and hope he stays in the business.

Yea....interesting comments.

The comments about picks and exotics are telling. I dont think he is any great hanidcapper but 30 years is a looong time.

All Dave , all night

Mass producing winners? ...... With plenty of 3-5 hot and dirties mixed in. He was real chalky as a capper to me. Not really even in Byks league. ( no one is) Sounds miffed for sure. I guess 28-1 wasn't enough to just bet to win and place ????

Dave Litfin
@DaveLitfin
Fairly well-known Thoroughbred handicapper/author, formerly for Daily Racing Form, who recently learned what management means by restructuring & streamlining.

Think their is only (2) left in Canada.
If they're streamlining, they'll be next
