Desormeaux needs to be gone
At what point is enough going to be enough? How many times is he going to have to put people at risk by showing up drunk? How many times will he be allowed to quit riding horses and cost people money? Today's 4th race at Del Mar was just the latest egregious example of how little respect for everyone else this guy has.
His talent alone should not be enough reason to continue to tolerate his shameless behavior. He needs to be put on the bench for a long, long time. |
Agree with this too. Article on drf now about this.

That was bad.

"DMR: Stewards vote 2-1 for no fine or suspension for Desormeaux
Jockey Kent Desormeaux will not be fined nor suspended for his ride aboard in Saturday's fourth race".... |
Welp, that's it for me betting Del Mar. Good riddance. They show that kind of flagrant disregard for their players by siding with that disgusting criminal, they don't deserve my money. Status quo for this ridiculous sport.

Nice of our resident troll to check in defending the indefensible. Glad you enjoy betting on riders who may or may not be drunk and may or not be trying. Bet you love Comcast's customer service too.
|
You forget he is a HOF with multiple Ky Derby and BC wins. You bet on an 8 to 5 shot and he loses then say he must retire. Did you see his masterful ride in the second race? I bet you didnt. You see what you want to see. Carry on...

If he had pulled that sh1t in Europe he'd have been out of work for 6 months. I didn't have a dime on the race but we all know It's difficult enough to be successful as a bettor when they follow the rules.... to watch a multirace ticket get blown up by a 86.00 horse that should not have been within 3 lengths of him because of the jockey....I get exactly where Joey's coming from - I would not bet a cent there either. |

If this were literally any other jockey, I'd most likely be OK with just a warning. But the pattern of irresponsible behavior in his career putting other people in danger and stealing money by not trying is a disgrace to this game. Yet he's allowed to just keep on being who he is because sycophants like you think as long as someone has big wins on their resume they should be able to act however the hell they please with no repercussions. How's that Greg Hardy jersey fitting? |

Glad you think it's OK for him to show up drunk TIME AND TIME AGAIN in a profession where someone could die at any moment and for him to cost thousands of people money TIME AND TIME AGAIN because he doesn't feel like trying sometimes. Glad that's acceptable behavior to you. |

DMR: Stewards vote 2-1 for no fine or suspension for Desormeaux
Jay Privman , Del Mar , 2015-11-08 - DRF Live Posted : 5hrs 13mins ago Jockey Kent Desormeaux will not be fined nor suspended for his ride aboard in Saturday's fourth race, in which favored WHAT A VIEW was caught right on the wire with Desormeaux, to some observers, appearing to stop riding aggressively before the finish and then rising in the saddle as the horses got to the finish. In a majority decision, Del Mar stewards Kim Sawyer and Tom Ward voted for no penalty, while steward Scott Chaney dissented, believing a penalty was warranted. They made their opinions known on Sunday afternoon after meeting with Desormeaux in the morning. "We had Kent in, went over the video extensively, and did not feel there was enough evidence on the video" to penalize, said Ward, who said he believed the pan shot of the race showed What A View trying to pull himself up at the sixteenth pole after making the lead. Sawyer agreed there should be no sanction, saying she believed Desormeaux's testimony that What A View was trying to "get out." "He felt he was doing all he could," Sawyer said. Sawyer said Desormeaux said that, in hindsight, he wished he had hit What A View once left-handed. Sawyer also said Desormeaux was reminded about his past transgressions in matters such as this. He has been cited going back more than 20 years for not riding to the finish. Chaney did not agree with his colleagues. "You win some, you lose some," he said. Chaney said that the minutes filed to the California Horse Racing Board would reflect the different opinions of the stewards on this incident. |

hall of fame is all well and good, but every ride should be done professionally. Past cites for not finishing, he didnt finish this race. |
