scandal brewing at mahoning valley
Really really bad..totally criminal in my opinion

Or, as appears to be the case according to other outfits at MVR, the groom walked the wrong horse over and the identifier missed it?
A little hard to believe that Shane Spiess, who has been training 30+ years and whose family is as ingrained in Ohio racing as the Radoseviches, would endanger his livelihood and family's reputation over the tiny money in the MVR pool. As Tony Black discussed yesterday, wouldn't be the first time the wrong horse was brought over and missed and won't be the last. |
Id have to think the blame would fall on the identifier. But...i cannot believe that noone realized the horse was not a female during all the time leading up to the race.

Stewards questioned Sharp, who is supposed to check every horse in the paddock before each race. Sharp admitted, however, that he never flipped the colt`s lip to check the tattoo and match it up with the tattoo number on the colt`s foal papers. "``I felt sure it was the right horse,`` said Sharp, an identifier he said for 32 years" |

NCAA? What else you want? But racing is on auto-pilot because the Identifier missed a horse in a nickel claimer at one of the most obscure tracks in the country? |

you mean, like, when Penn National builds a casino then moves a track that has been in Grove City since the 30's?

ok so the identifier missed it? Honest mistake..who brought the horse out? Was it the same barn as rubys queen? How did the wrong horse end up in the paddock anyway? There is more then 1 mistake here..a chain of events unfolded. |

i think tho your cynicism is unwarranted regarding racing and integrity. Agree, phil. This seems a case of laziness by the person not doing their job. |
