Equestris at Aqueduct

Some friends of my BF have expressed an interest in going to the track for the first time, and for the next 6 months that means Aqueduct. I was only there once myself while the casino was under construction (Wood Memorial Day 2011) so I can't speak for what it's like there now. We all know Aqueduct has a ... reputation :), but we would like to give them the best experience possible. We're looking at going Cigar Mile Day. Can anyone tell me anything about the Equestris restaurant?

If you wait 6 Months and 2 days you can go to Belmont and watch live racing and the Oaks Day card ;).

Live in so cal but having been to New York a bunch of times I wouldn't be afraid of aqueduct...... Hollywood park was every bit as scary as aqueduct plus New York has the best food in the world.

Went for the first time last spring on Gotham Day and had a great time.

Don't know about the restaurant but Longshots was great. Personal TVs, easy service for bets, food and drink.

Place was clean, people were nice. Not sure what 'reputation' it has in 2015 but I look forward to going back this winter.

I've been to Equestris more times than I can recall, albeit many years ago (the last time was Wood Memorial Day 2007), so I can''t vouch for it's current state - but back then is was fabulous. A bit pricey (it is NYC after all), but fantastic.

The wait staff was always friendly and efficient (not a bad idea to tip the Table Captain for an optimum view, though there's really not a bad seat) and the food was always excellent.

Equestris and Longshots are both excellent places to spend the day.

99% of the people that criticize Aqueduct never go there.

Seconded, there is nothing wrong with Aqueduct as a physical plant. Yes, the clientele is a bit more downmarket than across town at Belmont, but it's not that much different. There's tons of nooks and crannies to the Big A, find the one you like.

Equestris is a great choice for one of those nooks.
