Have any of you followed Grand Strand at all? He's mostly run in claiming races, but he went for $300K at auction once. Finally pulled $950 and thankfully is safe. There are some real leeches out there talking up a good game pretending to retire/retrain horses when they're just looking for cheap or free ones to send to slaughter. Owners and trainers need to really dig in on these people because too many are getting burned assuming the best. I'd love to not have to be suspicious of anybody offering to do something great for horses, but this is why we can't have nice things.
