Me too. TVG is announcing they're down too. Something smells.

cal828 08-22-2015 07:22 PM

I have an account with Oaklawn and just watched a race so they're not all down. Been good for me to have more than one account in case one goes down.

tanner12oz 08-22-2015 07:25 PM

Problems all around..already lost all my money for the day so no issues for me

CheekyBird 08-22-2015 07:29 PM

Well, I hope it's nothing nefarious (Don't want my name ending up on the "Dark Web!" LOL). Tomorrow's another day. Hope it's fixed soon. Would be sad for the company to lose money on a big wagering day :-(

Seattleallstar 08-22-2015 08:40 PM

TVG is down too, wtf is going on. This is too much for it to be a coincidence

clambeau 08-22-2015 08:44 PM

There are NO Coincidences

saratogadew 08-22-2015 09:05 PM

TVG was back up in the nick of time, for me to throw away 72.00 on the pick 4:)

Another reason why it is such a pleasure to live in a state which has a TVG monopoly not letting the ccustomer have a choice of vendors or backup for an outage of the only provider.

Having 2 accounts did me some good as far as betting the race, but as soon as they loaded them in the gate, the video gave up the ghost, so had to go to cal racing video to actually see the race. Where there's a will there is a way. Hard to keep hard core gambler's down.:D

I will say this... not wagering and not having video, but being fortunate enough to listen to the race on the horse racing radio show REALLY helped me appreciate the race! The Del Mar race caller (don't know his name) did a BRILLIANT job of describing exactly what was happening. It was RIVETING!!

At the end of the day, my opinions were completely wrong, and it's a good thing I didn't get to bet. On a normal betting Saturday, I would have listened to the race caller with half an ear and concentrated on where my horses were.

So... Thank you Xpressbet. For the first time I got to enjoy horse racing like a fan of any other sport. Not a ummm (whispering) "gambler." :D

Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it, but it was visually impressive too. Sounds like you don't have a Cal Racing account or you could have watched it on your computer. Here is the web site http://www.calracing.com/live-video/ It's free. I used to use it a lot before I had Xpressbet and Oaklawn Anywhere
accounts.

Johnny D explaining the outage.. A DoS attack: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack

Importantly, their security services successfully protected account holders information, if that was the attack's target.

FBI involved in investigation.

XB Note to Accountholders

You may have experienced issues when visiting Xpressbet on Saturday, August 22. Shortly after 7:00PM ET, we were the victim of a sophisticated, malicious Distributed Denial of Service Attack (DDoS), which forced our website and telephone system to go offline for several hours.

DDoS attacks are a form of cyberterrorism in which a website is flooded with thousands of unique visits, solely intended to force the website offline. Xpressbet, along with several other online wagering companies, have received several such attacks over the past few months, the majority of which were mitigated quickly and without interruption to your wagering experience.

Please know that we are continuing to work with our technology partners to build additional safeguards into our system to prevent future attacks from impacting you and your ability to wager.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to assure you that your personal information remains our highest priority. We utilize advanced security and encryption software to ensure your information is safe, and while these attacks impacted our website, they did not impact your personal data.

We apologize for the inconvenience this caused, and assure you we are working tirelessly to continue providing you an unparalleled wagering experience.

A DDos attack is intended to cripple an online site, whether that site's purpose is online wagering, e-commerce (eBay), stock trading, or simply informational.

Encryption technology, provided that it is AES-256 or of that class, is great for protecting data, however that has nothing to do with the actual service's availability.

To be very honest, XB could NOT have been using the latest technology available to prevent DDoS attacks and that alone should be the call for users to have a second source of online wagering. Please note that I have been in the security software industry for more than a decade and would expect a more complete disclosure from any online site experiencing a DDoS attack.

They must have lost my e-mail address in all of the commotion, I didn't receive this, or any, apology. Instead I was left in the dark and scrambling to juice up another account on a busy Saturday afternoon.
