Celebrating the life of Steve Dellinger: AP 9/19

Steve's family and friends would like to invite everyone who can make it to Arlington on Saturday, 9/19 to remember Steve at one of his favorite places. Additional details to follow, but here is what has been pulled together so far:

Saturday, September 19 Arlington Park in the Finish Line Reserved area under grandstand.

We will ask for a $10.00 donation per person. This will cover:

* Admission to AP
* Tables and Seating for 60 people, but no limit on SRO
* Race dedicated to Steve
* Jumbotron memory message and hopefully photo collage
* Bring in our own food but not alcohol

Please let us know if you can make it on this thread and PM Barney or myself with any questions. More updates closer in!

Hi...Just wanted to bump this thread as we are less than 2 weeks out with some updates. The basic plan is still in place, but a few more details. Please PM me with additional questions.

Most importantly, Steve's Mom and two Brothers and their families are so appreciative of all the support from his friend's on DT and at AP. Obviously just a brutal past few months since he passed and this is a small light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

Arlington and Brian Spencer have been great with helping pull this together so cudos to them:tro:

Anybody coming out that day who needs a pass, please enter through the Grandstand (East) entrance by the train station and go to Will Call. We have passes in an envelope under Bob Gary. Please take what you need for the day and head to the Finish Line party area under Grandstand. As mentioned, we are on our own for food and beverages and we can't bring in our own alcohol. We don't know yet what race will be designated for Steve....hopefuly 4, 5 or 6 but if we can get everyone there by post time at 1:15 it would be great. A few other surprises during the day and we will head out after racing for dinner for whoever wants to stick around.

Thanks again to all that have helped out and looking forward to a memorable day!

FYI. I recently received a postcard that is twinspires' "VIP Day" at AP on the 19th.

It offers a free catered lunch buffet and raffle prizes, including 2 tix to the 2016 Kentucky Derby. Check in with the Marquee tents between 12 and 2pm to collect tent passes and Brisnet tip sheets.

If any of you are twinspires users, you may be able to take advantage.

Wish I knew Steve. He sounds like a special guy.

Cheers and have fun!

Otis

Only two days away now:tro:

They drew Saturday's card yesterday and "In Memory of Steve Dellinger" will be the 7th race with a 4:25 Central Post. All ticket info and group location details are posted above and still accurate. In addition:

* Prior to the race, Brian Spenser will conduct a in paddock introduction interview with Steve's family and friends present.

* After the race, the family will go in the Winner's Circle for a group photo opportunity.

* John Doley will then make a brief announcement welcoming his family to AP and introduce a 90 second Video and Picture montage with a brief track bio of Steve by BWS.

All in all should be an emotional, but wonderful day to remember a good friend to so many. The signal for all the events should be sent out live so anyone wanting to watch will be able to.

Again, thanks to Brian, Kevin Clarke and everyone at Arlington who were so generous with their time in helping make this happen.

GB..

Unfortunately I will be on the road tomorrow and will be unable to view the activities via streaming. If there is anyway possible, do you think that we could see a copy or replay of the video you spoke of posted to this thread?

Working on it.

Was up there for a little while today. It was a good showing for what was a good dude

It was a wonderful,emotional, bittersweet day. If there can be a best part to this, it was all the strangers who stopped by and said so many nice things. Steve's Mom went into this kinda' dreading it but she was so overwhelmed by the outpouring of affection it was cathertic for her and the Brothers.

The Tribute link will be up soon.

BWS...Thank you:tro:

Thank you Tom...

The date of Steve's passing was 6/22 as the video was one "2" off....

In closure, it was an honor to help pull this together and thank you yet again to everyone from AP to his family and friends who helped celebrate his life and friendships.
