Lucky won't run Friday. Cut herself acting up on the van ride north Tuesday..

Big Peps 07-23-2015 06:21 AM

Ahh that sucks.. Happens all too often. Had it happen a few weeks ago on a day ship from Finger Lakes to Presque Isle. I was 1/2 way from Ithaca to Preque Isle when it happened. Turned around and went back to work. Frustrating to say the least

Hit that double with Lucky last time out which was great. Figured she would pop one on the turf soon as she was running real well on the dirt and looked strong on turf time before.

Onward and upward...

Perfect spot in new Condition Book for Thursday 8/13 that Lucky will enter.. $50k/N3L at 8.5f-T.

Kasept 08-10-2015 09:16 AM

Race doesn't go..

Kasept 08-11-2015 06:22 AM

Last week, a $50k/N3L (8.5f-T) for males drew 18 entries. This week, the exact same race for girls drew Lucky and a MTO.. Bizarre.

With that race not coming back any time soon, William'sluckygray will try an 11f ALW on Monday 8/17 where she will get in light..

Seems kind of straightforward, lots of mares 4 and up get retired and bred especially ones that could run at this level. Geldings stick around mares that have some worth and ability dont, seems logical but what do I know

What's odd was that 13 F&M's entered the $35k/N3L the next day.. Why would 13 enter for $35k but none of them for $50k?

Everyone wants to get their picture taken in the Saratoga winners circle.

Guessing? maybe they want to win, it is SPA? But as a rule isnt more common for fillies of this ilk to be fewer because of breeding value?

In total, yes, there's fewer females than males. But it's August. If you have a 3-5yo F&M, you're still running. While your thought and Matt's make sense, the racing office was mystified that nearly everyone opted for the $35k over the $50k.

The only other thing I noticed Steve (and I don't know how much it comes into play), is that there are no horses from Brown or Pletcher in the 35k race.

She always shows up.. Hopefully the Inner turf stays speed friendly and you get invited into winners circle for 2nd time this meet.

Good Luck Dee Tee...safe trip for Lucky and Eric......lets see a Winner's Circle photo!!

Kasept 08-20-2015 05:32 AM

Matt, Billy.. Thx for the well wishes. Lucky came back fine. A quarter mile too far to go with her, but was still worth trying.. Will be fit for a return to 8-8.5f, ideally closing weekend.
