EVD Patin Suspensions

http://www.drf.com/news/premium/evan...main-suspended

* What's most remarkable about this event is that the Patin brothers didn't even give the worst trip in the race. Leshawn Conyers rode as if he ate an entire bag of mushrooms a few hours earlier. Conyers horse was grabbed hard early, after a quarter mile, he gradually drifted left until he bounced in the rail, after which he gradually steered his way out and threw his whip away, before blowing his irons in the stretch.

* The official fractions of the race are illogical.

24.66 -- 46.48 -- 1:14.20 would indicate that the horses ran a supersonic 21.81 second-quarter, before running the 3rd quarter in trotter fractions.

There's no shady about this, Evangeline Downs just struggles with their timer. It's probably the worst in all of horse racing.

Here's the video replay of this splendid event: http://www1.drf.com/displayVideo.do?...=D&country=USA

The head-on angle is much better. If Conyers rode an honest race, it rates as one of the worst trips I've ever seen, because he stole the show in a race where two others are suspended for stiffing.

The race that should be investigated gambling wise is when both Patins horse (Powder Road) and Conyers horse (Georgias Genie) both came back with different riders and ran 1-2 in the second race on 6-27. Incidentally it was the owner of Powder Road that approached the stewards claiming that Patin didn't let his horse run that night.

Powder Road:

Georgia's Genie:

Yeah, good point.

Powder Road came back 8 days later and romped at 7/2 odds. Georgia's Genie (with a rider change to a 2% jockey) finished 2nd at 12/1 odds. The rest of the field was crushed.

The exacta only paid $68.20 -- that's a race they should also be looking at for Offshore action as well.

All three jockeys arrested on charges of race fixing + this kicker -

>>>Additionally, both Joseph Patin Jr. and Billy Patin were arrested on warrants for the unnatural stimulation of horses (possession of an electronic shocking device). Evidence in two separate races on July 4, 2015 revealed that the jockeys possessed hand-held shocking devices while competing in races at Evangeline Downs.<<<

Doug, good call on Conyers' involvement.

The timing is horrendous at EvD, rivaled only by maybe Arlington's turf course. What is worse is that they don't give a crap.
