The Belmont Stakes: Which Horses Will Relish The Distance

In the Belmont Stakes, you have horses in which the further they run, the better they perform. There are other horses who succumb to the mile and a half distance. Here is my analysis:

Nice write up, thanks.

Going into the breeding angle a little bit differently, the Triple Crown seems to run in cycles.
You have several horses that manage it, then a hiatus, then several more horses, then a hiatus and so on.
Maybe we're just getting back to the end of the latest gap.

Thank you senator L.

Good that someone here can talk about the weather on June 6th. Funny. Let it rain, let it rain and I still wonder what AP's odds will be if it does 6/5, I'll make it. We'll see by the Belmont odds maker ot start any way. I like that 60% precip an thunderstorms. Down here in Texas nowadays we consider that a sunny day.:D

I am so sick of rain.
Hope everyone is surviving all the bad storms, flooding, etc down here. Its just awful

Tell that rain from Texas to go somewhere other than Tampa.
I'm having sun during the day and Texas at night. You could canoe down my street 5 minutes after it started last night. It was brighter at 10 PM than at high noon last night from the lightning.

None of them. They'd all rather run 8-10 panels. It's what there bred for but one of them will in spite of their breeding.

Name me one mainstream thoroughbred breeder and/or trainer in the U.S. that has the goal of breeding for and winning mile and half or plus races.

Back to AP, if he's ready and feeling his oats on June 6, he'll win breeding or not. If he doesn't any of the other also-rans can.

Thanks, we are near a creek that gets pretty high and this year is unreal. We are on high ground though, pretty good grade where we live. And it's a smallish creek but many of the bigger ones and rivers and lakes are just reeking havoc on so many poor folks.

I've never see anything spring like this since we moved here in '85 and most every native/older timer than me say the same thing. It's raining again right now after a pretty nice partly sunny day. Squall line coming through and we'll see another 3-5 inches in many parts through the weekend. Lakes around here that were 20-25ft +below normal are now at normal level quite a number are 5-15-20 feet above the norm. Crazy, crazy.

Next week may give us a break for a few days. Praise the Lord, seriously . . . and especially for those who have lost so much because of all this.
