Is this weird?

The filly in question, sold in foal, is a two year old? How common is it for two year olds to be bred? |

however, it's possible that she was born in december, so automatically turned one year old a day or two after birth. you'd need to look up her foal date, but that's quite possible--and i do concede i'm giving the breeder benefit of the doubt, because i'd hate to think someone would breed an actual 2 yo. edit~damn, according to pedigree query, she foaled in may of '12. ugh |
Sure aren't wasting anytime that's for sure! She's not even finish growing.

Well if she was injured and not able to run they could have bred her as she will deliver at 3, not ideal, but I know people that have done it with all breeds of horses.

It's not common at all. Only very well-bred, large fillies with career ending issues are typically bred at two. Outsource, the dam of Commentator, comes to mind. He was her foal from her two year old cover.

We bought hip # 335 who was injured while being broke and was bred at 2 in April. It will be weird seeing a two year old in the field in foal with the older mares..
