HOY - Main Sequence , Untapable???

4 for 4 all Grade 1's. Chrome loses but ran a good race. Shared Belief hits the super spot. Bayern possibly or Untapable with 6 wins out of 7 (4 out of 5 G1's) and only loss against the boys.

To me it's either Untapable or Shared Belief. A filly or a turf horse . . . interesting for sure. BTW - I know the years not over yet but . . .

Not for the last five years, it's not. ;)

Why is Bayern not the clear cut HOY? All over FB people are talking about Wise Dan and Untapable. I dont get it at all.

True. Maybe the voters are being more honest, getting smarter or t-bred horse racing is changing?

People seem to be counting Untapable's female restricted G1 wins as equal to any open company G1 win, which I wouldn't do. But it seems like popular logic.

What Main Sequence has managed to do is quite remarkable but unfortunately it has come without much fanfare, lost in the 3yr old talk with SB, CC and Bayern. Horse of the year will go to Bayern and deservedly so, but what Main Sequence did this year should not be lost on us especially since we have been looking for our American turf wonder to take on the supposed superior Euros.

That had to be the criteria to give it to zenyatta the year she 'won' it. She never beat an open company field that year and was still awarded HOY despite losing head-to-head to the horse who deserved it. That award was rendered meaningless to me after that.

I'd vote for Main Sequence, but it's very likely to go to "Buy-in" as Trevor calls him.

I think the kerfuffle over the Classic win will cost him a lot of votes.

I felt the same way when Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich beat Ellen Burstyn in Requiem for a Dream for the Best Actress Oscar.

What about the G1 at Monmouth, the monstrous G2 effort at Belmont and the G1 at Parx where he buried the Derby winner.

I'm not disputing his record; I'm just hazarding a guess as to what will go on in the minds of some of the voters. I would not have voted for Zenyatta for HOY, but I wasn't surprised when she won.

Also, Crash won over Brokeback Mountain.
