Keeneland Trip and Picks
 

Getting ready to head over to Keeneland for Day 2. Absolutely amazing place!! Appreciating things much more as I get older, I guess. Atmosphere was incredible and the scenery spectacular. Wish I had commission on the "Short Dress/Boots" Combos ALL the gals were wearing. That is an EXACTA! Weather was sketchy yesterday, but we had reserved seating. Spent most of time just wandering and watching the crowds. Keeneland staff were professional and friendly throughout.

Comment of the day from one of my friends after being on the grounds for about two hours, "I think this place is nicer than CharlesTown." He was serious, and I laughed for 10 minutes. Glad he contemplated that for two hours before commenting!

GPS sent us down a road by a castle as we left the track, and that little road was lined with Horse Farms everywhere. WinStar, Adena Springs, Darley, etc. I nearly drove off the road as I tried to read the names. Fantastic experience as the sun was setting. Will drive it again today going to the track. FYI - That is a sharp turn at Adena Springs...:o

Pocket only a little lighter (-$180) after yesterday's results. Hit the early Pk4($32 returned $61.50), hit 3 chalky Doubles, and one Good Exacta. Early in the card, none of the horses could close, but we got a light shower before Race 7 and then a hard rain prior to Race 9. Everybody closed in the Alcibaides, but 45 3/5 will allow for that. Nightcap was a little more convincing with the 4 coming up the rail to nail two prices on the wire. Horses were struggling behind Top 3, so still not fully believing in closers on a Dry track.

Played some at Belmont with zero luck and threw away $100 at Santa Anita. Overall...walked out about $950 to the good!

Had a great day! Saw some really amazing animals! Carpe Diem and Wise Dan were tremendous.

Can't wait to give some back tomorrow! :D

Thank you Casp. It was a fantastic day all around. Place was packed. I am trying to upload a picture I took from a 2nd floor balcony of Wise Dan coming into the paddock. It keeps telling me "file to Large". Dammit!

Other than my car getting dented in the hotel parking lot, been best trip ever. Looks like you had a good day yesterday wagering as well. :tro:

Well can't figure out how to post the pic I took of Wise Dan from yesterday...so I turned it into my Avatar. Wise Dan looks like he owns the place when he walks into the paddock. Wow!
