"Huge Upset in PA Derby Yesterday!"

That is how our local Philadelphia news stations described the race yesterday. Really, a 3.5/1 2nd choice horse? You would think Onion beat Secretariat yesterday! Too funny.

That's strike 2 for CC. The media hype was just like the Haskell for Untappable. I couldnot believe all the CC stuff for sale where i was sitting, and on the back of th tshirts it said "Hometown Hero " LOL

Here's a pretty well written piece from SI. However, note the photo is not from the PA Derby as CC was #1 not 2.

It was horrible, and I voiced my displeasure to management. If I wanted to purchase a hat or shirt, 99% of the stuff had California Chrome on it.

Other than that, it was an AWESOME day to be at Parx. The free food & booze certainly didn't hurt matters any!

I do not get the verbiage or the connotation in context of CC.

i think the poster believes if CC loses again he would be whisked off to stud.

ok...most three year olds like him are...Derby and Preakness winners running at 4 are very rare.

In the last 20 years which horse that has won the Derby, has done anything at stud, that was really important? This horse will suffer the same fate if not worse, because of his lackluster breeding. In the end, he will be as valuable as Funny Cide and Mine That Bird.

That's embarrassing.

I think thats more society based, if you are not winning your a loser (or performed like one), with few exceptions.

Real Quiet and Thunder Gulch got some good runners here and there.

Super Saver is one of the hottest freshman sires out there.

Street Sense has been a very good stallion as well. Two domestic Grade I winners (Sweet Reason/Aubby K), one international and 11 graded stake winners in three crops.

Guess I'm the only one who didn't know about the freebies; but was pleasantly surprised at how things went and the niceness of the folks I met there. ( this from a former usher at Giants stadium who dealt with Eagles fans ! ).
Now, if they would only lower the takeout .

In an age where even print newspapers are electing not to cover the horses, I think it's refreshing that your local news stations took time to report about the race (regardless of their perception of the huge upset).

Non-racing person writing the copy. Alas, it happens everywhere these days.
