Perfect Drift pedigree article

I thought this was a fun read:

Gotta love the sires who start out cheap and prove themselves. Dynaformer started at $5,000. Wow.

Here's a question for the breeding people-- Drift has a full brother. If the brother turns out to be nothing like Drift, do you think it's possible they might still attempt to put him out to stud because he's PD's brother?

Balletto 10-10-2006 02:02 PM

There's nothing to the dam's side. His brother would have to be of Drift's caliber and then some to warrant a Kentucky birth. More than likely, even a grade 1 win would shuttle him off to some regional unknown. Again, not much there in the family.

He has two full bros. A 3yr old and a 2yr old. I have their names written down at home as to which is which. I started a thread about a week or so ago that his 2yr old bro was my derby pick for next year. :D

And I thought I heard they were just going to keep breeding his momma to Dynaformer. Hoping to get gold more than once.

king cugat has also started@5k but i suspect that wont last long

Balletto 10-10-2006 05:56 PM

Really? Can I ask what exactly King Cugat has done at stud? He had a good filly in Puerto Rico that my brother owns a part of... other than that, not much to my knowledge.

disappearingdan_akaplaya 10-10-2006 05:58 PM

this is his initial crop running this year i believe, havent seen all that many but 1 of my fav is kingship who probaly will be here in the hawthorne derby, 5k is very generous for him!

Balletto 10-10-2006 05:59 PM

Hmm his first crop is about to be 4 yo's. He's been disasterous so far but it should be interesting to see what they can do on polytrack. For the record, I like him, I hope he turns it around, but it doesnt look good.

No worries. I know the years get confusing! Reina Musical is the filly my brother is involved with.

disappearingdan_akaplaya 10-10-2006 06:08 PM

lol yeah when you got how many horses/bloodlines/races/ all the damn info flowing through ya tend to get things mixed up sometimes. 1 of the great things about this game, no matter what happens theres ALWAYS more knowledge to consume!

They're giving her a short rest and trying her one more time this year. Her effort will be the deciding factor. She's got a strong female family behind... Lite Light branch of La Troienne.

I'll bet when Drifts little brothers are running in the fields they pull up and let the other babies win! :D

The Bid 10-10-2006 06:12 PM

Shes going to run agian, I was under the impression she was retired?

Balletto 10-10-2006 06:14 PM

Reina Musical? No. She has a slight injury... they want to give her one more shot. That was as of two weeks ago.
