Any sense on how Timeform US is faring?

Are they making a dent in DRF and BRIS?

Calzone Lord 07-25-2014 08:09 PM

They have a truly great figure-maker in CJ.

They have very smart and talented people.

From right out of the gate, they decided to take an unorthodox approach. Instead of working to create a product with a similar look to DRF & BRIS -- one that would be an easier crossover for customers -- they decided to go with something more teched up. They love colors and they really love 100-point scales.

They're responsible for some very good innovations.

The challenge for them is to get that crossover and/or cultivate the younger or newer type of player they're trying to attract. They're not taking the path of least resistance by doing what they've done. I don't know anything about their sales or how they're doing as a company, but the game is better for their efforts, anyway. They helped get me a little exposure and they've certainly helped a few other talented and capable people get some opportunity and exposure.

Nice plug for CJ nice plug for yourself. Is there an answer to the question anytime in the future?

Freddy, if you send me $10 and a bottle of Sapphire...I'll hand you the keys to my Facebook, Twitter, DerbyTrail, and PaceAdvantage accounts for an entire month.

We're still here, which a year later is saying something. We've already outlasted the Racing Times. I think we are doing well, but I'm just the figure guy.

One thing I had heard about 6 months or so ago was having video tied to the PP's, wonder where that stands.

I know it is still coming, but I don't know the timetable.

I think the product is incredible. I use if with a print form, but rely a lot on Craig's figures which I believe are much more accurate than Beyer's. Plus the pace projector is much more accurate than I can ever be in giving me an idea of the shape of the field and whether it will be a fast, average or slow pace. The pace figures are great as well.

Thank you for putting me on to Mr. Sexy in the second race, his second and third races made it clear to me he was fast enough to compete with these. Your work is incredible. Keep up the great work!

I really like the product but I simply cannot get it to print correctly or work with the windows products I use.

I dont know about putting a dent into drf but I do think that the younger crowd has the chance to cut there teeth on the time form product vs drf which eventually would pinch drf. I think the contrast is to different to outright convert people though. Like I said though it is truly a great product my only issue are the tech bugs

It seems like Mike Beer has given out a few good plays.

He's been a great addition to Talking Horses. He's the only partner I've ever seen Andy defer to. :D

I've been Mike's biggest fan for a long time.

Heard a story yesterday at MP about Mike Beer dealing with fans after a seminar with Illman at GP. People who I did not know spoke for 5 minutes about him and how, on his own time, he spent an additional 30 minutes teaching them about the game. The only reason I post this is because people really dont realize how helpful some of the public cappers can be to teach people the game. It was very nice to listen to them opine about Beer and and how gracious he is.

One thing I see on the horizon that might affect TF usage is that I'm starting to see racetracks' WiFi block out several websites. I've seen this at three tracks so far, and it's not just competing ADW sites affected.

I have used TF's PDFs and I am slowly getting used to them, but using them online would be preferable. I'd hate to show up at a track, though, and have TF's site blocked.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Of course I could just use a 4G connection but...
