Bossert gone

Oddly timed move. You would think they could've waited another 6 weeks to do this.

>>>The New York Times has not covered the sport on a daily basis for a decade, although it has a reporter, Joe Drape, who covers the sport regularly.<<<

My guess that when he is away from NYC based tracks he files an expense report. Six weeks in Saratoga does not come cheap so it was the most cost effective time to cut him.

The Daily Snooze is a real rag that is mostly pictures and very little content. I don't think it is going to last very long, particularly in print edition.

Surprised he lasted so long there, he really had very little to say other than repeat stuff from PR releases . He never filled the shoes of Russ Harris, Bill Finley, Ernie Munick et al. Think of John Pricci , formerly of Newsday, and Paul Moran (RIP), who wrote quality stuff. While its sad to see horseracing coverage diminished, with the NY Post and News following Newsday and Times; just take a look at the once great DRF w/ its pay DRF +, which i rarely view now since I cannot have a DRF ADW account and refuse to pay for + . And look at the new writer / handicappers for Timeform, who have plenty of quality stuff to write and say. Those who rely on newspaper pickers could always look to Ron Rippey who won the 2007 NHC
