Petty Gural adds personal animus to Meadowlands banning standards
Harness racing savior Jeff Gural takes banning of individuals from The Meadowlands for 'standards of personal conduct' (with those standards determined whimsically by him) to a stunning new level. Brian Sears barred because he preferred to drive at Yonkers? This is akin to Monmouth not letting Joe Bravo ride there because he's spending a lot of time at Belmont. Those on the thoroughbred side so eager to emulate Gural's 'lead' should read closely into this dumbfounding, petty application of domain restrictions...
http://www.drf.com/news/harness-jeff...ng-brian-sears "Mr. Sears and I have our differences over the standards that we choose to apply at the Meadowlands and whether or not he should have been loyal to the Meadowlands rather than move to Yonkers." |
I'll say it Steve. What an a-hole!! That's absurd.

lets just take it a step further Gural; if you are an owner or trainer that employs Brian Sears, you too will be banned.

wasn't there a situation a few years back with a thoroughbred track "demanding loyalty"? it might have been Golden Gate but i'm not sure. If you moved or ran your horse at a competing track, then you had to wait a certain time period "in quarantine" to run back at said track. It might have been Kentucky. Does anyone remember this?

thinking back, it might have been a Calder vs. Gulfstream situation.
