Pinehurst #2

Let's hear it folks! Who do you have on top? Who's your longshot play of the wkend?

I'm running another snake style draft (2 golfers) with 24 friends and family members. I have the 12th pick, just inside that gray area of not knowing who the hell is gonna fall your way. Worth a stab for $40.

My longshot is Russell Henley. Kid had a real shot to win The Players Championship if he didn't $hit the bed on saturday to shoot a wretched +8...if, if, if,...if my aunt had balls, ... I love the fire with which he plays.

I'm beyond excited for Thursday morning.

Greatest. Venue. Ever. Everything about Pinehurst stirs my soul and reminds me why I love golf like no other sport. I have played 7 of the 8 courses there. #2 is still on the bucket list. I was at Pinehurst in 1999 for the 3rd round. It's just heaven.

Interesting side note: Ben Bridgers, the Director of Golf at Pinehurst, was the guy that took my place as Asst. Golf Pro at Nags Head Golf Links when I Ieft there in 1999. Must have been all the knowledge I left behind that helped him land the Pinehurst gig.:D

Anyway...only 3 guys come to mind that are capable of hitting the types of iron shots necessary for these crowned greens.
Rory
Sergio
Bubba

I hope Bubba misses the cut. Either Rory or Sergio win this week.

Keegan Bradley or Sergio for me.

herkhorse 06-11-2014 06:02 PM

Steve Stricker, Harris English or anyone not named Adam. Phil or Keegan

Seattleallstar 06-11-2014 06:59 PM

Graeme and Webb for me

I figured Bubba to be a non- factor. He's been talking himself into playing bad since Tuesday. I hope he shoots 86 tomorrow. Mental midget douchbag.

So you are kind of on the fence about Bubba:p

:D

As an aside, Kaymer is a machine right now. As impressive display of golf I've seen in a while.

He's made a believer out of me for sure. I'll never in my life forget his putt on 17 at The Players. Euf Madone!

Kid is unreal right now, but I hope he comes back to the pack this weekend to make it more interesting.

This is the US Open it could all go south in a matter of a few holes, he just has to manage how much he comes back to the field, it WILL happen

herkhorse 06-13-2014 09:08 PM

10 under is insane :zz:

Rupert Pupkin 06-14-2014 11:11 PM

Here is the current line offshore:

Kaymer -255
Field +210

I'm not going to bet. I don't like to lay -255 on anything, but in this case I think it is more than a fair price. I think the chances of Kaymer losing are pretty slim. Looking at other sports, you sometimes see teams that are -300 or higher that have a far greater chance of losing than Kaymer IMO. I think the true chances of Kaymer losing are probably around 20-25%.

I miss the rough
and Tiger

This one's over

This was probably the most underwhelming US Open for me since I have been playing and following golf. The crazy part is that Martin Kaymer put on a great display of golf since Tiger at Pebble. I don't count Rory at Congressional plus I don't want to get started on that, I have ranted about that for too long, the USGA had their reasons.

Fantastic win for Michelle. Long time coming and most likely the first of many majors to come. Far and away the most impressive female ballstriker I have ever seen.

Seattleallstar 06-22-2014 06:04 PM

She's easy on the eyes too, those legs

She is tall! She is 6"1.

Did you guys see what Kevin Streelman did to win the tournament today? He did something that has never been done in the history of the PGA Tour. He birdied the final 7 holes in a row to win the tournament by a shot. No player has ever birdied the final 7 holes to win a PGA Tour tournament. It looked like he was totally out of it too. It was going to take 14 or 15 under to win the tournament. He was only 8 under with 7 holes to play. He birdied his final 7 holes in a row to shoot -15 and win the tournament by a shot. He was definitely "in the zone" coming down the stretch.

By the way, he had missed 4 cuts in a row. Go figure.

Alabama Stakes 06-23-2014 08:52 AM

was crazy fun to watch. even the 4 footer he pulled, still, miraculously found the cup. Good for him. :)
