malaysian mystery

no sign as yet of the missing plane. they've said that the two guys with stolen passports (how do names on stolen passports not get a giant fred flag in the system?) who boarded the plane had purchased one way tickets. of course that doesn't mean they were the cause of the disappearance, but it certainly makes you say 'hmmm'.
unreal that they have seen nothing so far of that jet.

GPS May Be No Help in Finding Missing Malaysia Airlines Jet

Quote:

No one yet knows what happened to Malaysia Airlines flight 370. Hamilton said it’s possible the pilot or someone else turned off the transponder, or that the plane was destroyed in a sudden, violent event that also knocked out the tracking system.

There are also secondary radar systems, but Hamilton said those have some dead zones, particularly over large bodies of water.

William McCabe, president of the aviation safety consultancy The McCabe Group, said it’s very rare in the modern era for air traffic controllers and others not to know exactly where an aircraft is at all times, because of the overlapping technologies and procedures designed to make flying safe.

It seems that the news about the missing airliner is in a constant state of flux. Here are the thoughts of one pilot/author about a possible scenario

Here what I think may have happened..

also a flight forum to read other pilots thoughts about it all is pretty interesting.

Why Didn't the MH370 Passengers Call Anyone?

http://news.msn.com/world/why-didnt-...rs-call-anyone

Danzig 03-18-2014 03:12 PM

well, if they had no reason to worry, they wouldn't call.
if they were dead, they couldn't call.
if you're in the middle of the indian ocean, there's no towers.

i asked on slate, is it possible this plane had a similar occurrence as what happened to golfer payne stewart?

i know everyone enjoys a good conspiracy theory...but just like when a car breaks down, you start with the simplest, easiest fixes first.

so, imaginations go wild-and it may well be that the thing suffered a catastrophic failure.

but no one will know anything until/if it's found.

It must be me, but I think this is the most amazing story in years. I don't recall anything like this before, and I'm 58, unless that's the reason I forgot about it. :zz:

Im 28. I totally agree. Its been fascinating to follow. Just found this article.....

For what its worth at this point I don’t think its possible that this plane crashed. I don’t have any wacky ideas about what happened to the plane or the people, but how could it have crashed with zero wreckage? If I had to take a guess I would say it was hijacked and trying to fly under radar when it was then shot down accidently and now being covered up by whoever shot it down. That’s just a guess though.

One of the more interesting forums to read about it. Of course there are already 167 pages on the the thread, but it's very informative information and opinions on this whole mystery.

the indian ocean is a big, empty vastness. it's very possible that the plane crashed but is never found.

Seems highly unlikely to me, no wreckage at all??

sure it's unlikely, but possible.
there was an air france crash that it took two years to recover the black box. i figure eventually it'll be found, out in the ocean.
