hopefully the other branches will follow suit. the cold war has been over for some time, which was the reason behind us keeping such a large military after ww2 ended. it's a huge drain on the federal budget...and having all those cool toys only makes it easier to decide to use them.

Totally agree.

I'm always amazed, however, to find that many of those budget watchers who constantly tell us that government is too large say that the military is too small. So it goes.
