milwaukee diocese

http://news.msn.com/us/milwaukee-arc...4m-for-victims

the diocese, as part of its bankruptcy scheme, is offering a sum total of $4m to its victims of priest molestations.

as you can see in the article, the victims were hoping to be able to get money from the cemetary fund, but the judge said no....that cemetary fund being mention jarred my memory.
so, i went searching, and there it was:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/02/us...pagewanted=all

Cardinal Timothy F. Dolan, then the archbishop there, requested permission from the Vatican to move nearly $57 million into a cemetery trust fund to protect the assets from victims of clergy sexual abuse who were demanding compensation.

However, the files contain a 2007 letter to the Vatican in which he explains that by transferring the assets, “I foresee an improved protection of these funds from any legal claim and liability.” The Vatican approved the request in five weeks, the files show.

and....he was right. those funds are now shielded.

not sure how this will change when the industry involved refuses to admit there are issues, and when they refuse to help in investigations.
the archbishop should face charges.

Until both the church and society at large realize that 'pedophilia' makes up under 1/3 of all abuse cases and admit and recognize priests preying on gay or sexually confused male students, (mainly from 15-18 years of age) using their position of power, as a problem, it will and still persists.

The idiocy of the church's beliefs is fully revealed in their recognition and abomination of priest on child abuse while at the same time ignoring and hiding the priest on adolescent abuse that occurs at twice the rate of the former.

Of course showing outrage at a priest abusing a six year old boy is far easier for society and the church than showing outrage at a priest for having consensual relations with an adolescent male.

How ironic my HS alma mater, an all-boys Jesuit academy, had the motto, 'Men for Others'.

dellinger63, it could have been a worse motto. There's an elementary school in Texas that goes with this one:

"Discovering the Gifts of Every Child."

Disturbing how we understand heterosexuals and homosexuals are born that way but think/hope pedophiliacs are somehow treatable and can change. :zz:

Anyone remember Mel Reynolds?
