RIP - HOF outfielder Ralph Kiner

Well before my time as a player, but grew up a Mets fan and always looked forward to listening to him - remembering those days fondly today.

Kiners Korner

One of the all-time greats. When I first started playing baseball around 1949 (I was 7), I looked up to my older brother who was playing high school baseball at the time. I remember he used to brandish a hugely heavy bat, a Ralph Kiner model, which I could barely lift, let alone swing. Could say that Kiner's name was about the first one I associated MLB with way back then.

Who knows how many HR's Kiner would have hit if he played other than in that massive baseball cathedral in Pittsburgh.....

Didn't he date Elizabeth Taylor in the day?

A close friend and supporter of Hank Greenberg when others discriminated...

Will miss the host of Kiner's Korner who was beloved to his Met fans.....Lindsay Nelson, Bob Murphy and Ralph Kiner; the Hall-of Fame broadcast booth.....

RIP, my man !!!!

Quite a man. Watched hundreds.. thousands.. of WOR games with my dad and so many Kiner's Korners. As a player, an under-rated titan. As a broadcaster, often funny unintentionally, he equally had a great way of presenting baseball's nuances in easy to understand terms. Sad to see him go. Will never be forgotten.

As a Met fan, you had to love him. Just so much fun to listen to.
