A century ago, before the votes of writers started determining championships, and when the Jockey Club was a very credible entity led by handicapper Walter Vosburgh...these type of mythical handicaps are what determined champions.




Not really sure who the Jockey Club has doing their handicapping right now.

Cairo Prince at 118lbs is a farce. He won his debut. Romped in the Nashua. And was beaten only a nose in the Remsen by Honor Code, while positioned behind him early, in a very slow paced race.

They even have a bunch of turf horses ahead of him.
