Flowers in the Attic

'Fess up- who's watching it? Saturday on Lifetime.

I'm so there. i even went back and reread the book so I'd be all prepared.

Okay, I tried to reread it. It's really not very good. My inner thirteen-year-old is ashamed to admit it, but it's true. I cut today's teens a bit more slack for the obsession with "Twilight." Apparently every generation of girls needs their four-book series of scandalous crap.

i won the bet, so not watching.

i don't recall ever tuning to lifetime, for anything, ever.

I freely admit I really like Project Runway. I sewed a lot in high school (sewed my prom dress!) so I love watching stuff get made.

i loathed home ec, loved shop. too much of a tomboy. didn't even go to the prom, or any dance after 9th grade. wasn't my thing i guess. couple guys asked me to prom, and i said no, i'm not going. they didn't believe me, and then there i wasn't!

I just got through with season 2 of American Horror Story. I thought it was good. Even better than season 1. It's got everything you'd want in the horror genre. It has ax murderers, serial killers, monsters, aliens, an ex Nazi doctor, persons possessed by devils. All in an insane asylum run by an alcoholic nun. What more could you ask for?:D Finished it. Now got to start watching Breaking Bad again.

I LOVED season 2 of American Horror Story! I'm kind of hate watching Season 3 at this point- I really liked it up until a few episodes ago, and last Sunday's episode I REALLY hated. But I'll finish the season.

Breaking Bad is on my list to see for once I finally finish The Wire.

Not often that you see comedy in a horror show, but I thought it was hysterical when Jessica Lange burst into the Name Game and the rest of the cast joined in singing and dancing.:D

I think that is one of the greatest segments in television history. Here, let's all appreciate it:

"Lifetime wants to have its arsenic-laced doughnut and eat it too — it wants to dabble in the ooey gooey darkness without getting its PG brand too dirty. The result is a "Flowers in the Attic" that is neither unsettling or deliciously absurd; it's just plain silly. And what's the fun in that?"

PG and teen incest just don't seem like they'd mix all that well.

It's every bit as awful as I thought it would be. Hooray!

But props to Ellen Burstyn. She knows exactly what Lifetime movie she is in and is chewing the scenery to exactly the right consistency.

She was great! Outstanding career, and enjoyed the video tribute.

I missed the SAG Awards (I hate award shows), but I saw an interview with her a few months back (she has an autobiography that came out in 2013, I think). Great interview. Very cool lady.

In addition to West Side Story, she was in another movie I liked a lot called The Four Seasons with Alan Alda, Carol Burnett, Sandy Dennis, and Jack Weston. Some classic lines in that movie. In one scene, Alan Alda's character tells Jack Weston's character that he was "the Muhammad Ali of mental illness." Hysterical also when Jack Weston's character drives his new Mercedes out on a frozen lake and the ice cracks under it and it sinks into the lake.
